It has been at least eight years since I have had a letter published in this section. Of course, I have called and voiced my opinion in Rants & Raves.
As I look out my window, the sun is shining, and it makes me grateful that God let me see another day. But as I look around, there is not much love shown, but a lot of hatred. There is constant animosity toward President Obama.
I can understand constructive criticism, but in The Augusta Chronicle there has been so much hatred expressed toward the president of the United States as time slips by. When I was growing up, the older folks used to say, "We have to love around ourselves." Are you more brilliant than God? Certainly not. "God made me and not me myself" (a quote from God's Word).
Let's see the beauty of others. I don't want to condemn too quickly. Mankind can judge me in a dishonest way. I am glad that God has the final call, as he judges my heart and someday my soul. As I go through this life, I am proud of the love and kindness I express to people from day to today.

Ms. Hampton is that rare breed of Christian that actually practices what she preaches. Although I am agnostic, I completely agree with Ms. Hampton's letter, and I think many people could learn something from this wonderful lady.
Grouse.....do you simply HAVE to be rude and obnoxious to those who don't believe the same as your do? I thought liberals touted themselves as being tolerant, yet if you believe in God, they are just down right nasty and rude to you. It takes the same leap of faith to believe their IS NOT a God as it does to believe there IS, yet you put on your elitist attitude that you are somehow smarter than those that don't believe as YOU do. Nice expression of tolerance.
I really don't know Obama personally but the policies he is pushing are harming and going to harm America. He hyped himself beyond belief (a direct quote "you will tell your children this is when the earth started cooling, the oceans levels dropped..")and now some folks are disappointed. I just recognized Obama as a corrupt politician from the Chicago machine and don't want him to harm America any more than he has!
Ms. Hampton, I don't want to seem rude but what is the connection between your religious beliefs and citizens who express their dismay at the performance of Barack Hussein Obama? Were you equally offended with the democrat's constant barrage against George Walker Bush for eight years? If so, you omitted that concern from your letter. In a democratic society, the citizens have the right and obligation to point out perceived shortcomings in a political leader. That is certainly nothing new in this Nation's great history.

Why is it hateful to believe that Barack Hussein Obama has made decisions that are not in the best interests of our Nation? Why is it hateful for people who truly believe that to express that opinion in the newspaper or over broadcast airwaves? George Walker Bush was hung in effigy, had his image burned in public, and in what may have been the worst case of "hate" directed his way, liberals produced a film that basically called for his assassination. It's ironic that you now write that conservatives "fail to recognize the extreme hatred associated with their beliefs." Did the film that called for President Bush's assassination also fall into your category of "extreme hatred?"
Ms. Hampton it's ONLINE hate, most readers in Augusta who get a hard copy of the paper aren't aware of the HATEFUL comments being spewed online from these backwoods people in the CSRA. The chronicle is allowing these local ODSers (Obama Derangement Syndromers) to spew and post these comments because online readership is up. I'm sure if many people knew what's being said online, those getting hard copies would stop buying the chronicle. The editors know what day to race bait, what day to put up a bad editorial about Obama, democrats and progressives. If you noticed just like FALSE news, everything major in the news or otherwise about democrats is negative in conservative papers, news shows and radio? I've come to the conclusion it's suppose to be that way, if you are a democrat only be devout to them, if you are a republican only be devout to them. I will say for a fact the conservatives are the most racist, and hate filled people I know. I often wonder why now, then I say oh because Obama's is president I've never seen hate like this before. Beck, Drugbaugh, Bruce, Ingraham, Malkin, Savage, Levin, FALSE news etc they are feeding the frenzy.

I want to respect our president. I want to see him do something that involves improving America or something that even appears to be honorable. Instead, we have obama. As a country, we made a horrible mistake. We have two more years to suffer this horrible mistake. Respect? not likely. Tolerance? what choice do we have. We survived Carter, we'll survive obama.

Obama can't do anything right if you let conservatives and ODSers tell it. Why is it you always see white people in the news enraged, where are the Asians, Latinos, Blacks etc who HATE him as much as white conservative americans, God knows those in the south loathe him.

Because csrareader this is a different kind of hate towards Obama and race is mainly the culprit. The conservatives/republicans can say it's his policies but 99% of it is "other" and we know what "other" is. The HATE for Obama is so thick (in the south). I was on K street last night coming home and saw a pic on a bus stop billboard, it had the left side of Bush face and Obama's right side face made up as ONE FACE. I was like WHAT... I need to go back downtown to see what that billboard is all about, I missed the caption.
The article makes a point but doesn't recognize that the same "hate" was spewed for GWB as well as every other President before him. This is politics. That's just how it is and that's how it always will be as long as we remain a democratic republic. I'm not going to be nice and happy just because Obama is black.

I agree we can survive 4 years of Hussein. But can this country survive when you have a large % of its citizen that will vote for a community organizer in the hopes of getting more HAND OUTS.
I respect the office of the Presidency but the current President does not respect me or you, taxpayers and citizens of a free nation.
His policies are Marxist and discrimnatory. His "open" goals of taxing those who are "fortunate" in order to redistribute it to his constituents (the poor & "unfortunate") are well stated by the man himself.
His goal is clearly to remove as many freedoms as possible. Freedom of private companies to operate under their own business model, freedom of banks to fail or succeed, freedom of folks like me being able to spend MY money as I see fit and not give it to the government for them to spend and redistribute for me, freedom for me to choose whether or not I want healthcare coverage without a fee or tax.
He & his family are taking vacations (on our taxpayer dime) virtually the entire month of August. 5 Days in the Gulf of MX, a week in Martha's Vineyard, and then Michelle & the little "darlings" jet off to Spain for a week to stay with friends & staff in 30 rooms at a 5-star hotel. This after he just spent a week on vacation in Maine!!!!! Does this type of behavior seem "normal" during a recession or is it an "in your face" move?!? Spending our taxpayer money to vacation when we can't vacation because of the recession and rising taxes. Hypocrite.
He clearly has no interest in improving the economy. It continues to slide and bad news is delivered daily (by his fawning own media friends I might add). His approval rating hovers between 40-44%.
He lied about raising taxes on the under $250K group. Already raising it on several items (cigarettes and tanning booths) and in 2011 about 10 more little goodies are in store for the under $250K folks - all related to the new healthcare debacle.
When the President respects the citizens. We will respect him. Until then, he'll be criticized....regularly.

Blacks that disagree with Hussein are afraid to come forward. A very good example is Mr. Kenneth Gladney a conservative activist from St. Louis, who was attacked by members of SEIU as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He said in the emergency room at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he was awaiting treatment for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a RACIAL SLUR against him before the attack.
“It just seems there’s no freedom of speech without being attacked,” he said. Mr. Gladney is correct if you are a black conservative.
Where was the NAACP, Sharpton and Jackson when this happen. No where to be seen.
