Too much dirt being thrown at Obama

  • Follow Letters

C'mon, Chronicle editors. Grow up!

First you and the talking heads in the conservative electronic media complain that President Obama is not emotional enough on issues. Then when he uses the well-worn phrase in relation to the BP oil spill, you accuse him of being vulgar and setting a poor example.

Hey, I'd rather have a president who's says he wants to kick somebody's butt than one who brags, "Mission accomplished," while American military women and men are fighting and dying in Iraq. Now that is vulgarity.

How about when Dick Cheney used the "f" bomb in a verbal blast at a member of Congress? Did you criticize his vulgarity? (Editor's note: We did -- "Cheney's hypocrisies," June 30, 2004.)

I haven't read an editorial criticizing South Carolina state Sen. Jake Knotts for calling GOP gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley a "raghead." Not only was that vulgar, it was racist, too.

Those of us who support President Obama have grown accustomed to watching conservatives waste their energy trying to undermine his presidency by complaining about things he does or doesn't do.

For example, one guy sent me an e-mail that's been in circulation awhile complaining about Obama putting his feet on the desk in his desk in the Oval Office. What? Photos abound of other American presidents with their feet similarly perched. Apparently in Obama's case, though, the difference is who the feet belong to.

I don't mind the obamassiah

I don't mind the obamassiah putting his foot on a desk, it's when it's in his mouth that I get tired of him, which is to say constantly. If you don't want to see negative things written about the mad Marxist, don't open your eyes, you'll be invisible.

None of the examples

None of the examples mentioned in this letter focusing on alleged right-wing hypocrisy have anything to do with the price of tea of China. You say too much dirt is being thrown at Obama, but you don't address any of the major criticisms directed at him. How do you defend his disastrous handling of the oil spill? Why isn't he bringing our troops home? How come unemployment is still sky high? Until you can answer these questions, then all the "dirt" being thrown on Obama is justified and your "but a Republican did this" defense is just whistling in the graveyard.

Why isn't gitmo closed, it is

Why isn't gitmo closed, it is still a recruiting tool for the terrorist isn't it? Why are terrorist going to by given their trials in New York city or are they? Why hasn't Obama's plan of international cooperation working in Iran like he promised? Why did Obama reject international cooperation on the oil spill since America can't be a cowboy nation anymore and go it alone? Is this throwing dirt or asking questions about judgement and policy or both? And lastly when does it stop being Bush's fault Or is it OK if just Obama dishes dirt?

I love the editor's note in

I love the editor's note in the article. Amazing how some people are real selective about their memories, and seem to think that everyone who criticizes Obama MUST have loved everything Bush did. They don't understand that conservatives are capable of criticizing their leaders when they don't do right........I have yet to see that on the left.

Dave Obama deserves dirt .

Dave Obama deserves dirt . Trillions and trillions of debt. He pushed the health care bill using total deceit. He continues to blame others for every problem.

slippery - you do know, don't

slippery - you do know, don't you, that Obama is responsible for only about 5 percent of the national debt? I'll give you one guess when the other 95 percent occurred. Also, on the healthcare bill; Obama didn't use deceit. He told you when he campaigned that he was going to pass it, and he did. It's just refreshing to have a president who's working more for the middle class and not solely catering to the wealthy.

Mr. Lorenzatti, talking about kicking someone's "butt" and doing it are two entirely different matters. Talk, in the case of Mr. Obama, is cheap.

Funny, I seem to recall the left doing the same to President Bush. From his 911 response (not heading back to DC), to Katrina, and questions about his intelligence (I seem to remember him being compared to a monkey) just to name a few. It's kind of different when the shoe is on the other foot, huh? Fact is, Obama is nowhere near ready to be the Commander-in-Chief and he and his socialist agenda are getting ready to wreck the nation. Where's all this hope and prosperity we were supposed to get? And he's for the middle class?? That's funny right there. I don't seem to recall being furloughed under Bush's administration.

This is just another one of those LTE's crying foul because their man isn't being held to the same esteem in which they hold him. These are the same people who gleefully cast jokes and insults about Bush, now they find themselves surprised, hurt and offended when its their turn in the hot seat. Why do you demand courtesy to be given to Obama when none was given when Bush was in office?

The GOP has become nothing

The GOP has become nothing but guard dogs for the super wealthy, even the super wealthy from other nations who are taking advantage of US citizens....!

They can try to undo what has already been done but nobody is fooled. The real leaders of the the Republican movement...Palin and the hate-radio crowd, Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck continue to slam the Democrats for being too tough on BP and other corporations.

President Obama is rewarded for standing up for the Gulf coast by being called a Marxist and a socialist by the Republicans and their thugs in media. It's high time good conservative people see through these snake-oil salesmen and Mama Grizzly women!

Don't let the voters forget that before this $20 Billion was yanked from BP by Obama the Dem's in congress had been trying to get the measley 75 million dollar cap in damages that is currently on the books raised to 10 Billion dollars and the Republicans had teamed up to block that!!! They will pay for that in November...

Who do you want leading this country, the people who were against even asking BP for more than $75 million or the party who supports the President who got $20 Billion and an open ended agreement for more to deal with an American catastrophe that is truly priceless?

If it WERE true, why are so many Hollywood stars Democrats?

I know there are those who think it's childish, but I really think some facts should be used to back up baseless accusations and statements.

I am saying that Republican

I am saying that Republican congressmen Barton and Price slammed Obama publicly for getting the $20 Billion from BP upfront without taking them to court!

The Dem's had been trying to get the $75 million cap in damages raised and the Rs had blocked that!

These are all facts reported in the national news even on FOX.

Now the R leadership forced Barton and Price to take back what they said and I'm saying it's too late dudes! Palin, Limbaugh Beck and Hannity are still out there crying their oily tears for BP and cursing Obama for making them put money upfront asap for the people whose livlihoods have been destroyed already.

So I repeat my challenge...

...Who do you want leading this country, the people who were against even asking BP for more than $75 million or the party who supports the President who got $20 Billion and an open ended agreement for more to deal with an American catastrophe that is truly priceless?

Aware, honest Americans have

Aware, honest Americans have always known that President Obama (and his family) would be held to higher standards than than those previous...It's okay for the salt throwers to throw salt, he seems not to mind as does the rest of us...It actually makes him look good weathering the unfair criticism, just like GWB looked good when shoes were being thrown at him...Just stand still and things and the truth will prevail, and your critics will be your foot stool...

Tiger cartoon image: Have you

Tiger cartoon image:

Have you read a news story in the last month?

BP is a foreign corporation and they have put the entire Gulf of Mexico into dire straits with their recklessness.

The Democrats in congress were trying for a month to get the measley $75 million cap in damages that is currently on the books raised and the congressional GOP is on record as blocking that effort and stopping its passage.

Then Obama comes along and gets $20 Billion from them all by his little old self!

Then the GOP attacks him, Barton and Price and Palin and Beck and Hannity and Limbaugh and even George Will all screamed bloody murder!

They said BP was being treated unfairly! That is what I meant when I said...

"The GOP has become nothing but guard dogs for the super wealthy, even the super wealthy from other nations who are taking advantage of US citizens....!"

Dave Lorenzatti Obama needs

Dave Lorenzatti

Obama needs to answer why he has not waived the Jones Act to allow skimmers from foreign countries, offered 3 days after the spill started, to enter the Gulf. Obama needs to answer why 30 skimmer ships located elsewhere in the US are not in the Gulf. Obama needs to answer why Governor Jindal was not allowed to build a sand birm to protect the Louisans wetlands.

Could Obama be taking advantage of this spill to allow the destruction of the economy of the Gulf states, paving the way for another takeover by the Obama Administration. This guy is a devoted Marxist and his actions since taking office prove it. He promised "change with a difference" and we are getting it.

Orb... Sorry, but that 'Jones

Orb...

Sorry, but that 'Jones Act' canard is just more smoke being blown by Limbaugh and Palin.

The truth is that the clean up is being well coordinated by the Army Corps of Engineers and it is way more complicated than most people realize. And despite the fact that when Oreilly asked Palin how she would stop the spill she said "I'd call the Dutch to do it!" We have all the people and equipment we can handle right now.

We have thousands of people and boats from the Army Corps. BP and the states affected on the job. If you've followed closely you would know that the portable berms have turned out to be much more effective and flexible to change in currents than sand berms.

Many of the places big mouth Billy Nungasser wanted to build sand berms on day one, turned out not to be affected by the oil at all and it is a fact that dredging for berms kills tons of wild life too!

If you want to see a fool finally out herself just watch Palin try to answer this question from O'reilly...Here's your presidential material GOP...

The Jones Act is not a canard. President Bush waived it during Katrina. Some 15 nations offered the big O aid, the Dutch 3 days after the spill, and the big O refused. If the big O had waived the act it is just possible the oil could have been prevented from reaching the beaches, at least a major portion of it. The big O and his Marxist cabal are out to bankrupt the country and are well on their way to doing it.

As for the Army Corps of Engineers coordinating the cleanup that is a "crock of bull". It was the Corps that prevented Governor Jindal from building the sand birms to stop the oil from reaching the wetlands. And I don't want Marxists running the country!
