We must protect our Constitution

  • Follow Letters

If we don't start paying attention to how Washington is shredding our Constitution, the extent of our rights will be, "Sit down, shut up, do what you're told and pay taxes."

Protecting the Constitution is our duty. We can't pick and choose the parts we like and ignore the rest. Going to the polls and voting isn't enough.

The Constitution is a simple document with tremendous powers, if we take the time to protect it from Congress. The Constitution defines the powers of federal and state governments, but governments at all levels have slowly eroded and blurred the true meaning of personal rights.

All Americans and liberty-seeking organizations should take notice of the words "United we stand; divided we fall." The Fair Tax, the Tea Party and the National Rifle Association are some examples of organizations championing their causes while refusing to join together to protect our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Washington will love and protect us to death if we allow government to continue business as usual.

The Constitution was written to protect us from government intrusion into our private rights, not to serve the ambitions of politicians. "Do the right thing" and "politicians" are words not normally found in the same sentence. The driving force behind all politics is to be re-elected, so unless the political parties change, do not vote for their candidates.

the right wing fascist , just

the right wing fascist , just as the holy rollers, pick and choose portions of documents to support their views. if we were to abide by the strict rules of the bible, any woman who has slept with a man before marriage should be taken to the town square and stoned to death, no woman should be allowed to hold any office or responsible position, yet she be lashed and killed, every man should have the right to have as many wives as he sees fit, and take the lives of those he disapproves of, i can go on for days, need i say more?

The left does the same with

The left does the same with the constitution concrndcitzn! The left can only read clauses in the constitution stating the power of federal government to regulate INTERSTATE commerce, and promote the general welfare! The left seems to promote those two concepts to mean the federal government can regulate every aspect of everybodies lives and the 1st, 2nd, and 10th,amendments are meaningless. You really can't say much more concrncitzn because Chavez is Obama's role model, a left wing communist! I really don't know where you get your point of view about the Bible because Jesus also clearly said he who is with sin cast the first stone..not to mention we (as husbands) are admonished and commanded to love our wife as Christ loved the Church laying down our life for her..you read the Bible like you read the constitution!

Supporting the constitution

Supporting the constitution is nonsense, grouse? That explains a great deal of your prior posts.

Comparing a fundamentalists

Comparing a fundamentalists interpretation of the Bible is no comparison. We are talking about the law of this country. You are not required by law to follow the Bible, but the Constitution applies to everyone.

As usual, reTired Army, you

As usual, reTired Army, you jump to conclusions and miss the point. With the dumbing down of our state run education system, we have a voting populace that is misinformed or uninformed and is allowed to sway elections. The whole reason for the dumbing down is to make the "peoples" easier to manipulate. One of the best thing obama has brought to light is the lack of involvement of informed citizens in our government. Things are changing, as a result. We needed the example of this horrible congress and this incompetent president to wake up America. Groups like the TEA Party are forming with the sole intent of improving the situation. Right now, the efforts of the various groups aren't coordinated or concerted, but they are aimed at a common goal. Returning our country to the "rule of law" that has not been adhered to for some decades now.

We are in big trouble folks.

We are in big trouble folks. Even the Supreme Court violated the Constitution when it allowed the government to seize the assets of GM bondholders, who were guaranteed to be paid first in any bankruptcy, and give those assets to the unions. The communists are in control of the presidency, the House, and the Senate and the products of our public education system have been endoctrinated into the socialist party line and are now voters. Our economy will collapse sometime in the near future. It might be a couple of years or it might be 10 years but we are on our way down the tubes just like Greece, Hugary, Spain, Portugal, France, and most of the other liberal socialist governments in the world. The recent Obamacare legislation alone is enough to break this country in the outyears and coupled with the wasted "stimulus", quadrupled deficit, and the continued unfunded spending on things like what appears to be "lifetime" unemployment benefits, welfare, increased taxes on energy and small businesses, we are steadily driving the nails in the coffin. All while we continue to throw more and more money at a doomed public education system. The phrase "provide for the common good" was never intended to be interpreted as provide everything to anyone who is too lazy to work for it themselves. The Constitution has been described as a living and breathing document but it is now on life support, mortally wounded by socialist Democrats and fiscally irresponsible Republicans, and, in my opinion, needs to be shocked back to life by whatever means necessary. This country was founded by people who believed that if you wanted a prosperous life then you went out and worked for it. We now, through various ways, have assimilated people into this society who think that the government should provide them with everything they need. The way our Constitution has been interpreted in recent years guarantees that we will all soon be equal.....equally poor. And that seems to be what our current president, Congress, and Supreme Court want to see.

The supreme court didn't

The supreme court didn't allow the seizure of GM. Had that gone to court, and it will, it would have never been allowed. The nationalization of the business was simple theft to reward the union that invested so much in obama's campaign. The obama effort is right out of the Cloward/Piven strategy.

If you are so concerned about

If you are so concerned about protecting our Constitution and freedom, PLEASE, put on a uniform and serve your country like so many others. I guess it's easy for many of you to do nothing but criticize this President and administration, when you looked the other way when previous administrations have done worse. What it proves is that too many lives have been lost protecting people who are only interested in their own views of what being an American is, putting others down, and writing nonsense on sites such as this. I was always told to respect the Commander-In-Chief. I did that when President Bush ordered us to fight a war I didn’t agree with, and I have no problem supporting this President’s decisions for this country as well. It’s no way to know what the outcome of his policies will be at this point, but I am willing to give them a chance. Considering the mess left by the previous administration, that is the least I can do. I’m not saying that I agree with every decision made, just that I will support and pray for them, instead of displaying the negative nonsense, shown by individuals, and groups who have no idea what it really means to love, fight, and die for this great country.

The letter writer lives in reality. We started out as, "One nation under God," a "Nation under law." But, we have slowly deterioriated into a , "Nation governed by man," which means subject to the whim of those temporarily in power. To use Pope Benedict XVI's words, we are living in a dictatorship of relativism, with no regard for natural law and no recognition of objective truths. Vigilance, prayer, peaceful demonstration, ala Martin Luther King, and getting out the vote in November and in 2012 will hopefully return us to the republican form of government given to us by our founding fathers.

Running man- Father and

Running man- Father and Mother WW II, brother Viet Nam, son in combat arms, myself, 10 years active duty, 15 years reserves, does that qualify? I know what the results of Obama's policies will be, it isn't hard. Greece is broke, Spain (with all it's green energy and because of it's green energy) broke, Massachusetts broke because it incorperated a health care system similer to what Obama Pelosi and Reid implimented. The health care plan has killed job growth because employers know the health care plan is going to hurt their bottom line and and raise the cost of labor. It doesn't matter what the out come of the health care plan is it is unconstitutional. The stimulus package nearly one trillion dollars and nothing to show for it. Now Obama, Reid and Pelosi are moving on to cap and trade even though "global warming" is a hoax. NASA is having internal arguments about faulty use of math and suppressed data. The British Physics society wrote a scathing damning report on the work at East Angelia University climate research unit. Cap and trade will increase cost of doing business and further kill jobs. Having watched his solemn commitment to close Gitmo, try the terrorists in New York, failure to condemn the Fort Hood soldier, calling the Christmass day bomber a lone individual, Obama failure to act after the B/P spill etc, etc, etc What more of a chance does Obama need?

TTT...As the

TTT...As the Commender-In-Chief, he deserves your support and respect. The same respect afforded the past President when his polices and decisions caused us to enter into the worst economic crisis this country has seen in a very long time. The same support and respect given to that same President after entering into two wars that we are still trying to win. Where were all of the harsh and negative comments when all of this was going on?

Carcraft...lets face it, no matter what President Obama does, other than leave office, it will probably not be good enough for you. Trust me, if you are blaming the President for all that you mentioned in your posting, you are very much misguided, to say the least. I will pray for you as well. Take care, and enjoy your life.

RunningMan, he deserves my

RunningMan, he deserves my respect as the Commander-In-Chief but he does not deserve my support. I will not support someone who I feel has been and will continue to be detrimental to this country.

And I don't know why you act as if Bush was above criticism when he was in office. In case you've forgotten, Bush's approval rating was in the toilet his last few years in the White House. And it's not just because the libs despised him. It's because many of us on the right grew frustrated at his abandonment of conservative principles and Constitutional government. Don't assume that just because someone criticizes President Obama it means they blindly supported President Bush.

the right wing fascists have

the right wing fascists have , historically, picked apart the Constitution for their own benefit. Just as right wing, hate-filled southern baptist ministers, if you can even call a self ordained one so, pick and choose parts of the bible to preach and advance their personal hatred. what do you do??? the uneducated will follow, but the educated, hopefully will prevail.

It’s clear that many of you

It’s clear that many of you that are posting these negative comments about the President probably voted for McClain and Plain in the election. In my opinion, that disqualifies you from making rational judgment regarding the current President. The two of them (McClain/Plain) could not even run a campaign without all the infighting, and look at them now. Are you kidding me? I can only imagine how bad things would probably be if the two of them would have gotten elected. There’s no doubt the right team got elected. Now lets give them a chance to fix what was so broken when they came into office. And by the way, the only one that really knows how all of this if going to play out is God, so lets stop trying to predict the future
