South Carolina wrong on immigration

  • Follow Letters

South Carolina should not be proud of taking a stand with Arizona in the oppression of illegal immigrants.

Immigration laws are based on intolerance. Just like illegal drugs exist because there is a misguided law and a demand, so do illegal immigrants. Likewise, just as the so-called war on drugs has failed, so will enacting more laws to harass and oppress illegal immigrants.

Illegal immigration is a supply-and-demand issue, governed by the laws of supply and demand. Passing useless, senseless, racially motivated laws is foolish. The only thing Arizona's immigration law does is pacify an intolerant, emotionally insecure, influential segment of its population while scoring brownie points for its governor.

South Carolina would do well to break the cycle of hypocrisy and intolerance by not following Arizona's wrongheaded example of protecting its citizens.

What I would like to know is,

What I would like to know is, did Mr. Palmer actually read the Arizona law, or is he just bloviating a standard left-wing bias as our President and Chief Law Enforcement Officer did against an Arizona law that MIRRORS the federal law nearly verbatim. How about our Administration enforce the laws already on the books, then States won't have to make the Federal Laws mandatory. ENFORCE OUR LAWS, DUMB AND DUMBER!

Supply and Demand,

Supply and Demand, huh?............ O.K.
We'll supply the guns to our Military along the Border,
and then demand that the Mexicans come on over.
Hey, your absolutely right Kevin, that ought to solve the entire problem!

Mr. Palmer's letter is more

Mr. Palmer's letter is more leftist bilge that parrots the administration mantra, which is desperatley trying to maintain the status quo of open borders. It is amazing to me that these people are so lazy that they will not even do their homework before they shoot off their mouths, which does nothing more than illustrate how misinformed and wrong they really are. Having stated the obvious, it is now clear to me that instead of creating a new law in AZ, that has stirred up all this misguided outrage, Governor Brewer should have instead directed every law enforcment official in the state to immediatley being enforcing the federal laws already on the books. That law says they can stop anyone, at any time, and ask for papers/documents, etc, proving their immigration status, and oh, btw, this federal law, which is MUCH TOUGHER than the AZ law, has already been to the SCOTUS and found to be constitutional. I would also have gone a step further, and set up road blocks, and police sweeps of businesses using illegals.
Mr. President, DO YOUR JOB, and SECURE OUR BORDERS!!!

Please, Mr Palmer, try

Please, Mr Palmer, try entering Mexico (or any other country in the world for that matter) illegally and see just how far you get. I only wish to do to the illegal (what part of ILLEGAL do you not understand) immigrants what their leaders would do to me under similar circumstances. Personally, I feel that all states should enact a law such as the one passed in Arizona.

Illegal (alien) immigrants do

Illegal (alien) immigrants do NOT belong in the United States, much less S. Carolina. Since the federal government does not have the resources to deal with the invasion of the undocumented, and since certain ethnic groups believe that they can migrate where ever they please, without regard for established countries, we need to have ALL our enforcement resources doing the job that the federal government has not done. We. the citizens of South Carolina, need to re-establish our right to have a state and have a country with borders and immigration laws!

I actually agree with GROUSE on something. We should do that, as WELL as finish the wall and guard it. "Good fences make good neighbors." Arizona's law was necessary because the federal government, regardless of which party is in power, has done NOTHING to protect us from this foreign invasion. OBAMA AND CONGRESS, DO YOUR JOB! FINISH THE WALL, SECURE OUR BORDER, AND ENFORCE OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS! THE VOTERS ARE WATCHING YOU!!

Well you used illegal

Well you used illegal immigrant or immigration several times in your LTE. Which part of illegal do you not understand? Are you one of those morons that think we should pick and choose which laws we should follow? THEY ARE IN THIS COUNTRY ILLEGALLY!!!! If the federal government cannot do it's job and gives a soapbox to people like the president of Mexico to belittle our laws then it is up to the states to take over the job that the feds should be doing. It has nothing to do with intolerance it has to do with the law!!

There is a simple solution to this problem: All of the illegals will leave, in less than 30 days, if you fine and impose jail time on the companies and folks who hire them...Without a job they will return home...my 2 cents

First thing would be to STOP

First thing would be to STOP the illegal immigration. That is very difficult, but can be done. More importantly, we must stop rewarding them so handsomely at the taxpayers expense. If an ILLEGAL is in this country, has a child, then that child should also be an ILLEGAL. No illegal should get medical care or any other social program hand out such as food stamps, assisted housing, etc. I am not saying deny emergency care, but when dismissed, they should be transported out of the USA with a stern warning. Then as soon as we correct the ills of providing undeserved care to the illegals, WE SHOULD APPLY THE SAME TO OUR LEGAL LEECHES. We have entirely too many people on the government pay outs. THAT IS OUR (TAXPAYERS) MONEY. Vote and vote wisely in November and again in 2012.

For those who have not seen

For those who have not seen the latest on Capitol Hill immigration reform called REPAIR, take a peek at this proposed legislation. It specifically forbids states to impose any law about immigration. Considering the current President's concern over Arizona, either S.C. joins the fight asap or forget about it. And we all know how the feds (don't) enforce immigration laws, don't we. The only solution to this

The only solution to this problem is comprehensive immigration reform. However, the Republicans won't let the issue come up in Congress. They know that the only thing that will satisfy their right-wing base is to deport all people of color in the country. However, the Hispanics were the only minority group that the Republicans hadn't totally alienated (of course, the AZ law has about accomplished that!). They have about totally alienated women, gays, African Americans, etc. With whites predicted to be in the minority by 2050, the chances of Republicans winning national elections become slimmer and slimmer.

Here is a fact. You cannot

Here is a fact. You cannot let all of the illegals that want to come here in and give them welfare, free medical care, etc. We just cannot afford it. And if illegals can walk across the border, terrorists, drug dealers, and arms smugglers can traverse the border easily and we cannot let that traffic continue. No one is advocating trying to deport all of the millions of illegals that are already here. But we MUST secure the border and cut off the flow and we MUST give law enforcement the authority and the tools to arrest and deport illegals that come here and break our laws. If all of you pro-illegal immigration bleeding hearts lived in Arizona you would have a lot more sympathy for it's legal citizen's safety and finances. The insane stupidity of liberal Americans in providing illegal immigrants with welfare, free medical, free education with special "Spanish" speaking classes, etc. has financially bankrupted California and the mandated free social services is rapidly breaking Arizona and the other border states. Securing our borders, stopping the flow, and deporting the criminals is now a matter of survival. The states must take it upon themselves to do the job since the federal government has failed to do it's constitutionally mandated job.

Comprehensive immigration

Comprehensive immigration reform is code for amnesty. All we need to do is enforce existing laws, but Dems say it stops their base from growing. They need the criminals.

THE POWER OF YOUR VOTE?

A deep Silence from most Liberal oriented newspapers about the thousands of anti -illegal immigrant; pro-sovereignty crowds who packed a baseball stadium in Tempe, Arizona This huge congregation have concluded that, the law in Arizona represents not only this border state but every US state. That it is deemed as important to every state from the West to East coast? Every US state has been impacted by 20 to 30 million illegal aliens and to give them --AMNESTY--will be adverse to the "Rule of Law." These people no matter the violation stole into America and have in the majority of cases lived of the taxes of honest citizens-legal residents. The liberal press have mocked the truth and tried to hide that 72 percent of Americans who believe that every state should have a right to enact immigration policing laws, when the federal government refuses to do so.

There are about 20 to 30 million criminal aliens in the United States and the Federal government does le to stop this invasion. The US Constitution under Article 4, section 4, requires the Federal government to stop invasions: “…… and [The United States] shall protect each of them [the States] against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive.

The only way President Obama is going to pass Comprehensive Immigration reform, is forcing down the throat of the population. IF THE PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATIONS THROUGH BUSH, CLINTON HAD ENFORCED THE 1986 SIMPSON/MAZZOLI BILL AND STOPPED THE INVASION THIS ECONOMIC TRAVESTY WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED. DEMAND FROM YOUR REPRESENTATIVES WHY THEY ARE LYING TO US ABOUT THE—REAL—FENCES, COMPROMISED BY THE MAJORITY DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP, LED BY NO OTHER THAN SENATOR HARRY REID (D-NV) AN AVID PRO-AMNESTY ZEALOT.
