What's next? I want my country back

  • Follow Letters

It makes me sick to think about the direction our country is going in.

The economic stimulus; Obamacare; the government mandating that you buy insurance; cap-and-trade; bowing to other countries; climate change, the new and empowered Environmental Protection Agency, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid; nuclear reduction; no more research and development on nukes -- those are just a few things that tick me off. What's next? It gets better.

Soon the government will tell you what you can't eat because an unhealthy diet will make you a greater risk to disease, which will run up the cost of Obamacare. No more red meat and pork, no fried chicken, no fried fish, no sodas -- the list could go on.

A house will be built under the government's EPA guidelines. Plumbing, wiring, heating and cooling will have very strict regulations. Go green.

The government has its hands in the auto industry, insurance, housing, banking, Social Security, the postal service, Wall Street and more. The government never has run anything efficiently. It is a fact. What's next?

Now we are going to be punished with a national sales tax to pay for the liberal spending in Washington. Tax and spend -- this is all leftists know.

Terrorists -- if they haven't already -- will come in the United States through Mexico and kill us with dirty bombs or diseases such as smallpox. I have written my congressmen about this many times. What's next?

Let's drill for oil wherever the oil is. Let's say that there is a war in the Middle East, and we have our crude oil cut off. Our gas prices will shoot up to $10 or $14 per gallon or more and will be rationed. Let's think green while we are drilling. What's next?

Television and radio will be regulated -- especially conservative newscasts and commentaries. What's next?

The Internet will be regulated and taxed. Your e-mails will cost you. What's next?

Illegals. The left wants to make all illegals into citizens so they will vote Democratic and elect more liberals.

Let's just give our country away. President Obama wants the government to control and regulate every aspect of our lives. If this is not socialism, what is it?

Our country must be strong to survive. I see military cuts in the works just to show other countries that we respect them and trust them not to attack us. I say that we keep a stern face and carry a very big stick -- no more bowing and apologizing. Who does the bully at school pick on? It's not the kid with a bat or frown, but the kid who looks a little weak and quiet, and minds his own business.

We need a strong military and a strong leader with common sense. I want my U.S.A. back.

Sam Arrington

Yeah, this is rambling

Yeah, this is rambling nonsense, but...

"Who does the bully at school pick on? It's not the kid with a bat or frown, but the kid who looks a little weak and quiet, and minds his own business."

While were pretending that cliches are evidence, lets follow this to the other end, where the bully winds up in prison for beating his wife and robbing a liquor store twenty years later and the quiet kid is rich and successful.

God, if you're going to live in your own world, unbound by the rules of reality, at least abide by your own ridiculous logic.

On the other hand, the bully

On the other hand, the bully could run over all the quiet kids on the block and the bully ends up with the entire block. Sounds like Mr. Arrington was logical to me!

If you have a problem with

If you have a problem with what the writer said, tell us what that is......it's quite childish to simply attack the writer, but it IS the typical tactic of those who disagree, but can't back up their own argument.

He made perfect sense to me. And he is right. I do not like the bowing to the heads of foreign countries. One of the great thing about Americans is that we bow to no one, until now.

Tigger-You've been here long enough-that is the evidence that the libs have no logical comprehension of the principals they espouse so instead of attacking the arguement they attack the person..if you don't agree with them you are deficient in thier relm of being..I may quite posting here because I get tired of responding to the same stuff over and over and over..

This LTE is a rambling

This LTE is a rambling manifesto of paranoia, much of it delusional. To wit: Many of the events and conditions the writer mentions as coming soon are already here and have been for some time looong before the current administration. Examples include "Soon the government will tell you what you can't eat because an unhealthy diet will make you a greater risk to disease" and "A house will be built under the government's EPA guidelines. Plumbing, wiring, heating and cooling will have very strict regulations."

Seriously, though, "no more research and development on nukes?" Disagreeing with unilateral disarmament is one thing, but bemoaning that fact that we won't be building bigger and more deadly weapons any time soon? Something's not right there.

Most of this LTE is just emotional venting. The few discussion-worthy points are ubscured by all of the irrational "foaming at the mouth."

you libs may not like the

you libs may not like the format or style of the letter but the writer is correct on almost all accounts..our rights as free citizens have been undermined for years by power grabbing politicians.**both parties**. it just has esculated to such a degree under the dims control lead by obama that is is breath taking.. the FEDS are completely out of control lead by obama. no where does the constitution give the politicians such control over our lives as they have now and their desire for more. all those who want this socialist agenda may not realize this.. but there is always going to be classes..in a socialist society you have two..quess which one you will belong to?? and no chance to improve..no, the country is goiing in the wrong direction as stated and i agree. i want the land of opportunity back...not obama land!!!!!!

There are storm clouds on the horizon and the wind is blowing this way. Sammy sees the signs of a rain storm coming, and he is simply letting us know how he feels about it. Well, folks, the signs are there for all to see. Get ready for some more of that "change" we were promised. (Looks like a change for the worst to me.)

And, still, neither the letter writer nor the conservatives posters have noticed their taxes going down under Obama. Also, did any of you notice that the national sales tax proposal is coming from conservatives, not from the Democrats? I assume that in your hearts you all know that the President is doing well--otherwise, why would you feel such a need to bear patently false testimony against him?

Unfortunately, this country

Unfortunately, this country will never get back to a place everyone wanted to come to experience freedom, opportunity, benevolence, nonoppression and God. Overpopulation, overconcentration, greed, reparations, crime, electronic social media, and the juiced up Jim (Wallis) Jones types on Facebook are steering us all to drink out of the punch bowl.. LOL. We are messed up...

RHETOR-if you cant see whats

RHETOR-if you cant see whats happening going to happen because of the policy of borrowing and printing of money then you will not understand our concern.. have you lived thru an era of high inflation?? tax cuts are vital to help an economy grow..but they must be directed across the board and especially to the risk takers and job producers..targeted tax cuts for political gains generally are not effective..and tax cuts to reward certain industries are general paybacks and its not in our interest for the govt to choose winners and losers ..its the market place..and jack234 if your an independant and not a lib .the sun comes up in the west..

Spot on Mr. Arrington.

Spot on Mr. Arrington.

Well, I see all the fact-less liberal posters are out in full force this morning. They make personal attacks on letter writers, the AC & other posters, always.....every day. I expected as much.

Rhetor. My taxes have not gone down. Only the taxes of "certain" groups went down. Redistribution of wealth. It's part of the agenda. At least you are one of the few who tried to bring out some facts. Incorrect ones but at least an attempt was made.

The writer left out the fantastic impact this administration is having on our moral society (what's left of it after Clinton tainted the Oval office). Both of them dropping the "f" bomb on camera for all our youth to see and emulate. Fantastic role models we have in those 2 bumbling fools.

Not everyone dislikes Obama

Not everyone dislikes Obama because of his color. That seems to be your only talking point. I personally don't like him because he's a liar and a terrible president. I wasn't a Mccain fan either...and it wasn't because he was white. Why don't you grow up and quit playing the race card about people's dislike of a liar who has racked up more debt in a year than any president in the history of the US. It's getting really old.....

Unpublished

Mr. Arrington is correct. We are losing our freedom at a frightening rate. When I work and the government takes my earnings to support people who are capable of working but don't, that's immoral. When almost 50% of US tax base pays no taxes, yet we all benefit from the basics provided by the government, that's wrong. We simply must vote these thieves out of office.
