Right-wingers hide behind patriotism

  • Follow Letters

Patriotism does not equal cowardice, yet it is certainly true that patriotism is the last refuge of the coward.

Was it not cowardly to attack that IRS building in the manner of pilot Joseph Stack III -- yet where was condemnation from conservative leaders? There was none, and there will be none. Conservative leaders cannot decry their own invention, the patriot coward, lest they dissuade another from a similar act. They seek intimidation of the general population, however it may be manifested. Those pathetic, sad, angry folks on the self-ordained conservative side of American politics are desperate for validation.

"Take our country back!" they scream. They spew more hatred in every direction. Like chained dogs, they growl and bark, yet their illusory world is vanishing. Yes, conservative leaders, it's a good plan. Keep your dogs barking; you can certainly scare up some campaign donations. Fortunately, for the rest of us, the base is shrinking.

I think the validation comes

I think the validation comes in the way of 10s of thousands of immigrants each year (if not more) who flock to America. Patriotism speaks for itself.

Joseph Stack III was not a

Joseph Stack III was not a 'right-winger', he was a disappointed leftist. You can read his manifesto at the Huffington Post, unless even that site is too right-wing for you. His manifesto reads a lot like your letter. So much vitriol for someone who hates 'hate'....

LIberals sieze power and

LIberals sieze power and trample the constitution hiding behind caring about the poor, which is more cowardly, those of us that have served in the military and understand the price of freedom or those who sip latte's while bemoaning the great unwashed's fate and want to spend other peoples money to help them?

He does not understand the

He does not understand the first thing about patriotism or cowardice. I'd like to face this guy in an old fashioned dual. You know, the kind where two men start out back to back, walk away ten paces, turn, and fire. Let's see who is the coward then.

Yep, and when the left is

Yep, and when the left is losing the first thing they do is play the race card. Seems that all of the "racist" incidents at the recent TEA Party rally are starting to be disproved. Video out yesterday clearly shows there was no spitting incident. Maybe a "say don't spray" accident but not a spitting incident. And with thousands of cameras, microphones, and cell phone cameras recording everything going on there is not one, not a single one, recording of the "n" word being yelled out that has been made public so far. I'm not saying it absolutely did not happen. Bound to be a few in every crowd. But there has not been any proof yet with all of those cameras and microphones around. Conservatives may be guilty of wrapping themselves in patriotism but liberals are certainly just as guilty of wrapping themselves in the "it's racism" cloak because it has been a guaranteed "pass" for way too many years. But the false cloak of racism has become moth eaten and has way too many holes in it to be absolute protection from criticism. If you disagree with this president you are not a racist. You are more than likely a working class free American who would like to stay that way and would like to keep the money that you go out and earn. Just remember, everytime someone hollers "racism" some more money is disappearing from your family's budget. If wanting to keep the money I earn is racist, if wanting to not be under government healthcare is racist, if wanting this country to cut spending is racist, if wanting to not pay for someone else's healthcare is racist, well, then just call me Jim Crow.

John Lewis will not respond to requests for information about the alleged "N" word incident..Don't be deluded wing nut..You do not seemed concerned that conservatives have trouble speaking on college campuses because the lefties create riots- www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2010/mar/10032409.html-shout them down and creat violence so that they can not discuss thier ideas..you seem to forget the union thugs bussing people around executives homes and neighborhoods and leaving threatening messages on thier phones. Janeane Garofalo was not funny. Chris Matthews? I don't watch him. How about Maddow and Olberman? I don't watch them either, but they are pretty obnoxious. Olberman was at least a good sportscaster. Not enough money there I guess.
Anyway, I couple of years ago, it was unpatriotic to dislike the president.
What happened to that?

How typical of a left-winger

How typical of a left-winger to totally ignore the facts. I think J.M. Bower has been hanging around Lowell Greenbaum too much. Joseph Stack was a pro-Obama, anti-capitalist nutcase, who HATED George Bush and all he stood for (right or wrong). It's the Liberal leaders who have not acknowledged that fact and do not decry the nuts that support their causes.

Notreally, you obviously were

Notreally, you obviously were hiding in a closet during the Bush years, if you thnk that hate-speak has increased since Obama was elected. Even the so-called reputable national news-services bashed Bush everytime they got the chance. I'm sure you know as well as anybody that nobody is perfect, so why haven't the national news-services called out Obama on things like bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia, and spending tax-payer money on personal trips to New York for a family weekend on the town?

Bush only did what every

Bush only did what every other president, including Clinton, has done, although I don't like that either. But for ANY president to BOW to ANY foreign leader (Obama also bowed to the emperor of Japan) is totally without precedence and is inappropriate, demeaning, and disgusting.

Here are just a few of

Here are just a few of Obama's lies of or misleading statements, "Unemployment will not reach 8% if the stimulus act is passed", "I will close Git in one year from today", "I am going to pivote and focus on Jobs in America"(maybe obama did and by focus on jobs he means destroying them), "I am going to end the War in Iraq" well we are still fighting there, When I sign this bill in to law your child will be able to get heath insurance even with a pre exisiting disease" (OH sure after we amend because Obama didn't know what was in the bill or lied), "We are going to start pay go, everthing must be revenue neutral" (so we will leave the 21% cut in medicare that needs to be adjusted up out of the health care bill so we can tack this cost on later), You can keep your health care if you want (you just won't be able to afford to because your primiums are going to go up)...need I go on and the press doesn't call him on one of these half truths or lies...

Shame on you Mr. Bower! You

Shame on you Mr. Bower! You sir, are either misinformed, trying to deliberatly mislead, or both. You start your rant, based on a lie sir. Joseph Stack, the man you refer to, that crashed his plane into the IRS building, was neither Republican, nor Conservative, nor a member of the Tea Party. He was a registered democrat, that voted for John Kerry, and he simply had a beef with the IRS, who he blamed for ruining his life. You sir, are in fact the one who is sad, angry, self-ordained and desperate for validation. How many more Joseph Stacks are we going to create when the IRS hires the additional 1,500 IRS agents to enforce the new mandates of the Health Care Reform act? Guess you will blame all that on conservatives too eh? You say, "Like chained dogs, they growl and bark, yet their illusory world is vanishing. " Sounds like you are the one spewing hatred and vitriol in all directions, based on false assumptions, or out and out lies, or both. Patriotism sir, is not somthing that we conservatives hide behind. It is the basis of all the freedoms that all Americans enjoy, and these rights are even now being eroded by your kind. Sacrificed on the alter of Political Correctness, and Social progress. How many more freedoms are you willing to sacrifice today sir? How about peddling your bilge elsewhere, and stop whining about those that try and defend the very liberties that you now enjoy, like adding your misguided, hateful diatribe to these pages? Pathetic!

I changed only a few of Mr.

I changed only a few of Mr. Bowers words around. Most of this LTE actually makes sense now, though some is still not in plain English. Enjoy everyone!

"Spending the nation into oblivion does equal cowardice, yet it is certainly true that spending the nation into oblivion is the last refuge of the coward.

Was it not cowardly to shoot innocent soldiers at a recruiting station in the manner of Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad -- yet where was condemnation from progressive/liberal leaders? There was none, and there will be none. Progressive/liberal leaders cannot decry their own invention, the over-spending coward, lest they dissuade another from a similar act. They seek intimidation of the general population, however it may be manifested. Those pathetic, sad, angry folks on the self-ordained progressive/liberal side of American politics are desperate for validation.

"We Won! You Lost! Get over it!" they scream. They spew more hatred in every direction. Like chained dogs, they growl and bark, yet their illusory world is vanishing. Yes, progressive/liberal leaders, it's a good plan. Keep your dogs barking; you can certainly scare up some campaign donations. I sure hope that somebody who doesn't mind seeing their name in print will send in a response to Bower's letter to the editor, so that he, and everybody else around here, can see it in print. I don't like seeing my name printed, and the Augusta paper will not print anonymous letters.
