I appeal again to the voters of Georgia Senate District 22 to go to the polls in the runoff election Tuesday, Feb. 2, and vote for Hardie Davis if they haven't done so already.
We need Davis in Atlanta to continue to exert his strong leadership and influence to represent all the people in the district and the state.
He has creative plans to attract new businesses in the alternative health and energy fields. He is a staunch supporter of our local state colleges and universities and of the public school system.
Davis often says that the Medical College of Georgia must remain the flagship state medical school.
Davis is well-known among the other legislators, as he has walked among them. He has communicated and related remarkably well with them, too. These skills are needed as tough decisions will be made to meet budget cuts.
Davis met with a group of friends and former colleagues recently in Atlanta, and they all said that Augustans must return Davis to Atlanta, and that if they don't, it will be their great loss.
We still are experiencing the recession and reduction in state sales tax collections. Therefore, budget cuts are expected, but we must give priority to human services, education, safety and transportation. We must make sure there won't be funds for frivolous projects.
Let us send Davis back to Atlanta to make sure Richmond County get its fair share.
