Editorial: Bottom Line

We hope our friends and neighbors at Savannah River Site feel like a million bucks.

Workers and managers at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions there recently raised $1.2 million for the ongoing United Way campaigns in the area: United Way of Aiken County; United Way of the CSRA; United Way of the Midlands; Barnwell and Allendale County United Way; United Way of Edgefield County; United Way of McDuffie and Warren Counties; Screven United Way; United Way of the Lowcountry; and Anderson County United Way.

SRNS “has been the largest contributor to United Way the whole 65 years they’ve been doing the campaign,” says LaVerne Gold, President and CEO of United Way of the CSRA, which received a whopping $403,000 of the $1.2 million raised.

Through just the 15-county United Way of the CSRA, 24 human service agencies offer 45 programs made possible by the campaign.

The goal for the United Way of the CSRA this year is $3.4 million – meaning the job is far from done.

But it’s been made a lot easier thanks to SRNS.
