Editorial: In war, you lead, follow or get out of way

Enough platitudes and PC; time to protect ourselves

This is insane.

On both parts.

The West’s response, or lack thereof, to the unending string of deadly Islamic attacks on innocent civilians is nearly as nutty as the attacks themselves.

We leave our guard down – our judges and left-wing politicians make sure of it – and then try to console ourselves by thinking that if we just keep going out for ice cream or an evening jog, “the terrorists won’t win.”

In actuality, we’re letting them win, over and over and over, by continuing to thwart efforts to control our borders and vet our immigrants and visitors, while offering “diversity” visas, such as the one the New York terrorist entered on – as if America has a glaring problem with diversity, when five of the eight killed Tuesday were from Argentina and one was from Belgium.

That’s letting the terrorists win.

The lunacy on the left can’t be better illustrated than by New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

In January, Cuomo indignantly attacked President Trump’s attempts to vet immigrants from terror-prone nations, saying that such protection of American life is “the exact opposite of what I believe.” Cuomo promised back then to “work to protect the rights of those seeking refuge in our state.”

How about some refuge for us, governor?

Moreover, “refuge” doesn’t quite describe what Uzbek suspect Sayfullo Saipov was looking for when he rented a truck with which to mow down innocent bicyclists and pedestrians Tuesday in Cuomo’s home state.

Mind you, Mr. Open Borders Cuomo is the same man who, in 2014, declared that good, God-fearing, law-abiding conservative Americans “have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”

Let that sink in for a moment. The governor of New York would shut the door to conservative Americans while throwing out the welcome mat for the Sayfullo Saipovs of the world.

People such as Cuomo always try to soothe us after a radical Muslim murder spree by trying desperately to convince us it was a supposedly one-time “lone wolf” attack. What does that matter if one “lone wolf” is followed by 50 others? All that does is spread them out. That’s no consolation.

Besides, inspired by ISIS and others on the Internet and in the news, none of these jackals consider that they’re acting alone. Killing infidels is a group project, however disjointed the group’s members. You don’t need an ID badge or go to weekly meetings to act in concert with those for whom you feel a twisted kinship.

Better to focus on the “known wolf” aspect of these attacks – the concept that most of these killers were either known to authorities beforehand or perhaps should’ve been. There’s almost always a detectable trail of slime leading up to the pools of blood.

Americans are tired of the platitudes and political correctness. When we were fighting Germany in World War II, our leaders weren’t warning us against “Naziphobia.” We weren’t afraid of Nazis; we were at war with them.

We are at war with radical Islam, because it is at war with us.

It’s way past time for our power-hungry judges and powerless politicians to lead, follow or get out of the way and let us protect the homeland.
