Bottom line

It’s almost becoming routine, but it’s still kind of exciting.

If you see pockets of out-of- the-ordinary activity downtown in the next few weeks, it’s likely the film crew for a Bollywood movie called Detroit Crossing. Augusta is “starring” in the movie in several street scenes.

We say “routine” because Augusta apparently has been an increasingly popular place to shoot movies. If the titles Encounter, Hollywood Dirt and Saving Zoe don’t sound familiar now, they might later. Those movies all were filmed locally and are in different stages of post-production.

A May report by FilmLA declared Georgia the most popular filming location in the world, because more feature films were shot in Georgia in 2016 than even California.

Augusta should be proud to share a bit of that spotlight.
