Move away from MoveOn

Liberal group's shaming tactic actually calls for churning out more laws

  • Follow Editorials

MoveOn.org is petitioning members of Congress to give up their paychecks.

That’s gotten people’s attention – considering the legislative branch’s public approval ratings hover in the low- to mid-teens.

But here’s the kicker: The liberal political action committee isn’t upset at Congress for passing too many laws that lengthen the skeins of government red tape.

It’s upset because it’s not passing enough.

Reportedly, more than 30,000 people signed the petition within 48 hours. What does that say about the state of freedom in America when citizens petition the government to enact more laws, regulations and restrictions?

A deeper look at the MoveOn petition reveals its true intent – to shame the GOP into going along with the Democrats’ ruinous agenda.

“If Congressional Republicans don’t plan on passing any more legislation until November,” the petition states, “then they should give up their paychecks.”

Apparently so the American people can give up more of theirs!

In some five years, this president has shown zero taste for compromise. So Republicans have wisely indicated they have no plans to surrender to sweeping legislation until after the November midterm elections.

MoveOn calls that “throwing in the towel.” We call it standing firm to protect Americans from an increasingly destructive set of policies that are cutting jobs and strangling enterprise. The government’s own numbers say working hours are headed down and health-care costs are headed up.

“Obama administration: Health law’s new rules will increase costs for most small businesses,” read a headline at The Washington Post – with “most” meaning nearly two-thirds.

MoveOn basically wants conservative complicity in foisting this misguided left-wing agenda on the nation. Do that, and America and its economy would only lurch farther in the wrong direction.

Besides, what about the hundreds of Republican House bills that have died from
neglect in the Senate? Who’s doing nothing here?

Corgimom, as the saying goes

Corgimom, as the saying goes "it takes two to tango ". The House has sent multitudes of bills to the Senate and Reid has sat on them. The President refuses to compromise. Take delaying the health care law. Memos are now surfacing that the Obama Administration KNEW that the Obama care web site wasn't ready, States were not ready and web sites were not secure. They went ahead anyway and put the law into effect to diseasterous results. Not only did the roll out stink but peoples personal financial information was put at risk. Did you know the federal government web site still isn't working? The pay portion isn't up and running. So when the House put forth a bill to delay implementation and it was ignored whose fault was that? When sequester became the law of the land the house offered targetted cuts. The President refused. Whose fault is that? Yes it takes two to tango and in case of our government three and only one has dance shoes on!

the Zeno's paradox way to compromise?

meeting someone halfway involves an infinite number
of halfways to each halfway
first get a quarter, no, an eighth, no, a sixteenth, and on and on
which means one can never even get started
and that is how the democrats compromise
but moveon people should wear brown shirts
and when people controlled by principles such as those controlling
democrats and their moveon sychophants
get true power, do you know what you get?

Moveon.org; a George Soros

Moveon.org; a George Soros group!! Yes sir, you can bet there is fairness in thier efforts!!

Let me ask a question; why does George Soros not want his name attached to all the groups he creates? He is the founder of the Shadow party, and has openly stated that bringing down the United States, IS the ultimate goal!! THAT, is why he doesn't want his name clearly attached to these groups. Because these groups are DISGUISED as civil rights and fairness groups, but in reality, they are FAR from it.

Why is it that George Soros has been a personal guest of the White House 5 times in the last 4 years? Why has he created very close personal relationships with Bill and Hillary Clinton? Maybe for the NEXT Presidency?

Why is it that his groups, target the Secretary of State elections in NUMEROUS different individual states, mostly in important borderline States like Ohio, Minnesota and many more? He has donated 100's of millions to winning the Secretary of State election in this States!! Because the Secretary of State, in individual States is responsible for authenticating and confirming ELECTIONS!!! So, if you have a close election, such as they had in Minnesota with Al Franken and Norm Coleman, where the vote was around a 700 vote difference, you MUST have a recount!! Coleman was ahead of Franken by 700 votes, but after the mandatory recounts, overseen by Mark Ritchie (whom George Soros donated millions to elect) Franken edged out a victory by 300 votes!! There were THREE recounts and during every recount, Franken received more votes, until he was declared the victor; by a George Soros funded politician!! Amazing, isn't it???

THIS, is why the Secretary of State elections in individual States is so important!! THIS, is why Geore Soros want's to win those elections!!

George Soros is the most evil man in the WORLD!! This man is actually WANTED in several Countries, but is still invited to our White House!! Curiously, all his buddies are the leftist democrats!!

Corgimom

It is amazing to hear democrats whine about nothing getting done, when one of their own, and one of the worst of elected politicians, Harry Reed, has blocked ever attempt of the senate to pass bills sent to them by the house.

The senate, with the help of Harry Reed, has stifled the debate. Every time he opens is mouth he spews out his vile rhetoric, while blocking any legislative progress. He is the number one cause congress gets nothing done. It also speaks volumes of the kind of people who would vote for and then re-elect a such malcontent as Harry Reed.

So Corgimom, you need to look at your own party as the culprits of a do nothing congress.

I'm struck by the line ...

"So Republicans have wisely indicated they have no plans to surrender to sweeping legislation until after the November midterm elections." Implying that after November, the Republicans will cave and we're back to business as usual.

Hopefully, the November elections will show the establishment Republicans that caving won't be helpful to their career. Even then, the McConnells, Grahams, McCains and Isaksons need to go. We'll never be able to reverse the damage with this ilk in Congress.

Harry Reed has been a disaster as head of the senate for America. To ignore his refusal to even allow votes on more than 200 bills sent from the house is where the real obstruction begins. To ignore his actions Corgi is intellectually dishonest!

If you want to know why nothing is getting done you should ask Harry Reid and the Democrat controlled Senate. You know...ole Harry "all the horror stories about Obamacare are lies" Reid. Actually, with THIS president and THIS Senate, the best thing in the world for the American people is that nothing is getting done.

Has MoveOn.org lost their tax

Has MoveOn.org lost their tax free exempt status from the IRS since it is a political action group they should be sued for back taxes. Then there is Soros the mirror image of Koch. Well since they have "illegally" benefitted from tax exemption status they should be disbanded and cease to exist to be fair.

Still,

Bod has a point, Soros would probably have fought on the side of the Russian socialists rather than the Nazis, IMHO.

They were more in line with his political philosophy as I see it today.

That is, if he had fought at all. I'm thinking that Soros has more of Bill Clinton in his blood than Audie Murphy.

He didn't fight, that I know of. His family changed their name and denied their jewish roots, then he and his father ASSISTED the German's in removing Jews from their homes.

There is EXCESSIVE video you can look up and hear it in HIS WORDS, not mine!! He is unrepentent for what he did!! Yes, he was young then, but now that he is in his 80's he still doesn't have regrets!! He has also destroyed Countries and plans to destroy more!! IN HIS OWN WORDS, the United States is his next target!!

Care to explain how these are HIS WORDS, not mine? Can a 14 year old not assist his father in removing Jews and taking them to death camps? You do realize his birth name was George Schwartz and his family was Jewish, but changed their name to avoid being targetted by Nazi's. Then they turned on their own people and delivered them up to the gas chambers!! How evil is that??

Do you want to compare this human being, to those evil Koch brother's you always rant about??? This man has given HUNDREDS of millions more to leftist, secularist organizations than the Koch brother's ever thought of giving to conservative groups!!

"In an interview with The Washington Post on November 11, 2003, Soros said that removing President George W. Bush from office was the "central focus of my life" and "a matter of life and death". He said he would sacrifice his entire fortune to defeat Bush "if someone guaranteed it". Soros gave $3 million to the Center for American Progress, $2.5 million to MoveOn.org, and $20 million[60] to America Coming Together." And that was just in ONE YEAR!!

That's not including the BILLIONS he has funneled into Actblue, Open Society, Moveon.org, Apollo alliance, Daily KOS and this list goes on so far I won't bother with more!! He has given over 8 BILLION to leftist, atheist causes!! The Koch brother's have a LOT of catching up to do, if they want to catch this man alone!!

He's been convicted of insider trading and is solely responsible for "Black Wednesday" when he crashed the Brittish Banking industry by selling short the Brittish pound!!

I'll stop wasting my time now, but if you want TRUE READING on George Soros, I'll provide the link below!! This is the most EVIL MAN in the World!! And he's been a personal guest of Obama's FIVE TIMES!!! This alone should get Obama impeached!!! Soros is the most evil criminal in the world and that is a FACT!!!

Again, unbelievable. Soros was a child

The Canada Free Press? The Canadian version of World Net Daily and an article obviously written by a very delusional, and likes to edit quotes and interviews to change their meaning. It's also part of a Glenn Beck hit job on Soros, which isn't mentioned. The CFP is run by a rather deranged individual itself, Judi McLeod (unless you think "journalists" should run the address and photos of the homes of people they oppose and encourage their readers to physically attack them), but you can do your own research. RationalWiki has an excellent take on the author and whackjob, Jim O'Neill, but it contains adult language, so again you'll have to look it up on your own. Soros is vain. He donates money to left wing and to causes that foster democracy around the world. He also lets it be known when he makes donations to get his name in the news and doesn't try to hide his funding like the infamous Koch brothers (whose AEI is but one of the right wing sources used as a rererence in the lying screed by O'Neill, along with kook, crank, hatemonger, and Zionist David Horowitz, and quite a few other very questionable individuals and sites).
