Republicans came to their senses on immigration reform by deciding inaction was the best course of action. We couldn’t agree more.

The GOP finally realized the futility of drafting meaningful legislation with a Democrat-controlled Senate and a president who has indicated he’ll undo anything he dislikes with the stroke of a pen.

Any attempt at “comprehensive” reform under these circumstances would, at best, result in a new slew of costly-but-ineffective measures and, at worst, the president’s goal of outright citizenship for the nation’s more than 11 million Democrat-leaning illegal immigrants.

Have we forgotten the last attempt at massive “reform” legislation – the
debacle known as Obamacare?

Better to hold off until after mid-term elections when, hopefully, common sense will be more in vogue in Washington. Besides, illegal immigrants aren’t going anywhere; lax enforcement of existing laws assures us that.

Immigration “reform” was a Democrat-Republican suicide pact in which only Republicans pulled the trigger. Thank heavens they didn’t go through with it.

With BOTH sides!! This issue

With BOTH sides!! This issue is about votes!! When it should actually be about securing this Country and making us safe. This is a Sovereign Country, but no one wants to really acknowledge that anymore!! This Country has lost her identity!! Politicians and their lies, are the main reason for this!!

If we don't do something about immigration...

If we don't do something about immigration, our country as we know it and the culture upon which it was founded are doomed.

A country cannot annually accept millions of legal and illegal immigrants who refuse to assimilate into its borders and expect to retain its existing culture. Yes, there are those who are misguided who say we are a melting pot. This is no longer true because a melting pot is where something goes in and ceases to exist in its original form and becomes anew what was in the pot. We we have now is a mosaic in which each new piece comes in and still retains its original shape and wedges itself in the existing culture.

Now, those who favor comprehensive immigration to worship the PC god of multiculturalism need to understand what multiculturalism really means. Arthur Schlesinger gave an excellent definition when he wrote, "Multiculturalism opposes the idea of a common culture, rejects the goals of assimilation and integration, and celebrates the immutability of diverse and separate racial and ethnic communities." The misguided acceptance of multiculturalism is destroying European countries and some such as Switzerland are taking steps to stop it. England has been so overrun by the Muslims they maybe too far gone. Within two decades some European countries will be dominated by Islamists.

There are those who say, "We can't punish the children who were brought here by their parents and they are not to blame." and should not be sent back to a country they don't know. So, we let the child stay, then the parents, then the siblings, then the grandparents, then the aunts and uncles. All because we don't want to breakup the families.

The parents broke the law when they came here illegally. THEY decided to take an action that could break up a family. Don't we break up families when we put a criminal who knowing broke the law in prison? There are too many people who want to be compassionate and ruin our country than to be a nation of laws.

We are becoming more of a nation of invaders than we are a nation of immigrants. (Which is a falsehood, by the way.)

How many of the six billion in the world do we accept just because their homeland is crummy by our standards?

One can call me a nativist or whatever, but I believe we have to look out for America. We have to protect the Western Civilization that has been the most fruitful in history in the greatest county in history. Allowing unfettered, unrestrictive immigration for whatever "feel goodism" used for justification will destroy us as a culture.

So now we're paying all those Republicans $174,000 per year to sit around and DO NOTHING???

What are we paying them for???? And people are ok with this???

cogi, You raise a good question. My answer...

cogi, You raise a good question. My answer would be the Republicans have to play the role of blocking backs and not that of the quarterback until we get the ball in both the House and the Senate. Then we can go on offense. If we don't do that in 2014 then the home team will never have the ball and the country will further slide into the pit of degradation culturally and economically.

Sorry corgi the Republicans

Sorry corgi the Republicans are not doing nothing. There are over 160 pieces of legislation passed in the house and waiting for the Democrat-controlled Senate to take some action, besides putting them in a box. Talk to your friend dingy harry about "doing nothing".

THIS is a very important issue!

"England has been so overrun by the Muslims they maybe too far gone. Within two decades some European countries will be dominated by Islamists."

It can happen here...the Reps have got to step back from the social issues & put the right issues on the front burner.....we are dragged down by non issues that always lose the votes.

The Dems play us like a violin on those very issues...sooo let us move on.

I have no idea who you are talking about, SGT49. And you also have no idea what political party I belong to, or who I voted for in the Presidential election.

How come the left isn't

How come the left isn't demonizing the Swiss for their efforts to restrict immigration. It's really logistical-we have so much in natural resources and so many jobs-competition creates problems. If Mexico were doing better my bet the majority would go back there.

Mexico doesn't have to do better as long as we are taking in their people.

Corgi, I have been posting

Corgi, I have been posting way before you. I just don't comment often, I have a job you see. And I don't make multiple posts rather than saying everything in a single post just so I can get more points. Oh by the way, if points counted against you for thumbs down you would have about -13,950 points. Its still very entertaining hearing your comments though.
