A nasty tolerance for intolerance

MSNBC shows hypocrisy in its foot-dragging on disciplining hateful host

  • Follow Editorials

It apparently took nearly three weeks for the folks at MSNBC to get a memo back from their Standards and Practices Department. If they have one.

Oddly, they thought actor Alec Baldwin’s gay slur was an immediate firing offense and canceled his show in its infancy, but thought that an infinitely more vile and disgusting attack on a conservative woman was merely cause for pause.

MSNBC host Martin Bashir suggested in a Nov. 15 broadcast that someone urinate or defecate in Sarah Palin’s mouth for having said that shackling Americans in crushing debt is akin to slavery. He noted that such punishments as he was suggesting for Palin had been done to slaves, and said “if anyone truly qualified for a (similar) dose of discipline ... then she would be the outstanding candidate.”

Sadly enough, this sort of contemptible, uber-intolerant rhetoric has been flowing like the Nile from radical liberals such as those at far-left (and therefore little-watched) MSNBC. From the failed and vitriolic Keith Olbermann to the alarmingly sexist Ed Schultz to the odd utterings of Chris Matthews and now Martin Bashir, the network has a rather checkered track record for venom, hatred and hostility toward conservatives, especially female conservatives.

It speaks volumes about the network’s far-left hypocrisy, too, that it took almost three weeks to toss Bashir out on his stump this week. Apparently it was a difficult choice to boot Bashir for his premeditated, thought-out repugnant attack on Sarah Palin – whereas, again, an unscripted gay slur uttered in anger at a photographer got Alec Baldwin quickly suspended and his show summarily canceled.

The left has been so brainwashed that, while it defends certain people reflexively, it has a hard time feeling that any invective, affront or insult aimed at a conservative could ever be over-the-top offensive.

You are ultimately judged by the company you keep. MSNBC has a chronic attachment to the Martin Bashirs of the far left – and has a most difficult time divorcing itself from them.

A few years ago, those same liberals were decrying unspecified conservative rhetoric and – wrongly – blaming it for the shooting of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. Look who’s really spewing the malicious toxins: the sanctimonious left.

There’s a difference between debating issues vigorously and the kinds of ad hominem personal attacks like Bashir’s, Schultz’s and others’. Be careful what you put in your head and teach your children. People such as Martin Bashir are teaching their followers to hate their political opponents.

We can disagree in this country without resorting to such filthy, degrading, dehumanizing attacks.

It’s time to stop tolerating such intolerance.

Luckily, MSNBC has pitifully few viewers. Judging from this episode – and how slothfully the network responded to it – you have to wonder why it has any at all.

"Why don't YOU justify why Republicans are the ones to fix the problem when THEY created it in the first place. "

First....you have zero evidence that it was Republicans alone who created the problem....because it isn't true.

Second.....Obama campaigned very hard on the notion that HE could fix the problem....and he has made it worse by every measurable manner.....but keep on rationalizing and blaming everyone else if it makes you feel better......reality is beginning to catch up with you and your type.

One solution

Stop watching MSNBC and stop buying any and all products or people they advertise, support, or endorse. Power and money are their Gods.

So obtuse

So Bashir, Baldwin and much earlier, Imus, were fired from MSNBC. What about Limbaugh who continually insults all people. When will he be fired? This double standard thing needs to stop! Either apply your convictions to all or none! Or get a tougher skin. When are all you going to realize that it is up to you to find the truth? The networks are always going to be "one-sided". Grow up.

Another reason MSNBC and
Unpublished

Another reason MSNBC and other liberal outlets can do this is because of the difference between conservatives and liberals. If a conservative does not like a show they simply will not watch it.
If a liberal does not like a show they will try to get it boycotted, if that does not work they will try to get a law passed against it, and if still not satisfied they will try a judge.
Admit it liberals, you are truly the intolerant ones in this country, your venom leaks across the airways nationwide. I would not mind it so much if you guys were mature enough to admit it, instead you accuse others of being what you really are and deny any responsibility for anything yourselves. It really makes it hard to get along with you and impossible to negotiate anything with you. That is all on you though you will lack the maturity to own up to it of course.

Bill Maher has always been a

Bill Maher has always been a washed up comedian compared to his peers till he found a political niche he could gain support. He was raised Irish catholic though his mother is jewish-see the anti-religion thing is an obvious pathology. He did finish high school and got a BA in english and history from an ivy league school (but he admits his education wasn't his bag-rather dealing bags was his bag) so he isn't completely uneducated perhaps undereducated. But I doubt he believes half the rubbish he espouses-it's all about ratings and making moolah (so he can donate millions to his favorite cause-OMG like the Koch brothers). You need to realize they are entertainers and don't likely fall for their own public relations. People wear different hats for different occasions.

Robert I hope peaceful rather than violent means will prevail. But Dems and progressives sure talk about civil war and violence all the time-they talk about racism all the time and seem to want to stir up a divide and violence there too. No wonder so many gun tottin' conservatives are building up arsenals. Scares the heck outta me. Brother against brother in civil war-I hope I would die for peace rather than become violent-the horror, the horror comes to mind from Apocalypse Now. I don't want to go there.

copperhead your anti-semitic speech

has resulted in atrocious actions in the past
but you know that, and the probable results of Iran getting a bomb
are known... it will not be "peace in our time"
it will be the murder of Jews
and thus your true prejudices are known
and your comments about education are simple lies
your liberal government is in charge of education
your liberal justice department proclaims that a mathematical discrepancy in the ratio of success or participation in any endeavor
by black people
that does not match the ratio of the black and white population
is racist, and punishable
rich white people go to much better schools than poor black people
the government ensures that, and enforces that
that makes the government racist in their own eyes
and that makes their supporters racist in the eyes of everyone else
support away, true believer

We lied to you about Benghazi, we lied to you about shovel ready jobs, we lied to you about Fast and Furious, we lied to you about my uncle, we lied to you, well on just about everything really.

Interesting GACopperhead

Interesting GACopperhead forgot that the subprime mortgage fiasco lead to the economic collapse. Multiple times Bush went to Barney Frank and ask him to slow down the guarantee of sub prime loans. Franks response "it isn't broke we aren't fixing it". So no it isn't all Bush' s fault.

gacopper surely you know, and ignore the fact

that fast food jobs are meant for high school kids
and that adults needing to work there is purely the fault of your government
by not educating well enough to get an actual adult job
and taxing so much that the economy has not rebounded sufficiently
machines that flip burgers and squirt ketchup are much easier to design and build
than the machines that fill a cup with ice and coke
and the machines are already designed, and as soon as the minimum wage goes up
those machines will be put into action
and those adults depending on fast food jobs will be unemployed
just like our high corporate tax forces companies to relocate overseas
the government you continually defend is just bad
and racist
yet (because?) you keep defending
this government didn't establish a religion
this government IS a religion

"Republicans' ideas are inconceivable to INTELLIGENT, humane people."

Explain how it is intelligent and humane to raise someone's pay, which in turn raises the cost of everything that person buys and lowers the value of the money have? The people making minimum wage are right back where they started, and those who don't are all a little poorer....

Somehow you think it is intelligent and humane to help NO ONE while simultaneously making everyone else poorer. Explain that GAC....if you can.

I CHALLENGE you to find in the Bible where it states the Earth is 6000-10,000 years old!! Stop listening to the traditions and teachings of MEN!!

Also, why should I address something that is a LIE?? Republicans certainly have some fault in the spending, at least I will give you that; but I'm sure you will NEVER level any fault to the demoncrats!! As you stated, Obama had to spend over 7 trillion to fix this economy, which he has NOT fixed!! Wow, 7 trillion to fix it huh?

So, 43 Presidents ran up 10 trillion in debt, and President Obama ran up 7 trillion in just over ONE TERM!!! And you believe you can justify this because he was "fixing" the problems the republicans created? Are you actually serious with this? Here is a link to read!!

http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/national-debt-obama/2013/10/10/id/530429

This is just one of MANY links that could be provided; and guess what? It isn't from Fox News!!!

Also, can you actually name me ONE thing he has "fixed" or made better? If you can name one, can you provide the evidence please.

I'm with you buddy. But rest your mind brother, for we have a Savior!! Nothing wrong with getting those guns and ammo ready, but you won't need them, that I promise you. Freedom has fled and fled from these people, and in 2013 we know there is NO NEW LAND to flee. HE, is getting just as tired of their tactics as we are.

That is why the Bible speaks so much of His WRATH!! You feel that anger that comes up inside you when they spew their filth? He feels it as well. His wrath is NOT kindled against those who love Him, it's for those who LIE about Him and those who lie about people who love Him. He is giving them all the room in the world to "hang themselves" with their FREE WILL. They will NOT be able to blame it on anyone else!! Their lying, demeaning, hateful ways will end soon. Just be tough and pray for patience. His plan must be fulfilled in order to save every last soul that CAN be saved, of their own free will.

Remember Liberal Bill Maher's insensitive 9-11 comments

They got him fired yes, But just for a cooling off period, the Liberals brought him back and he is making $$$$?

How about Michael Moore's Farhren-hype 9-11 or other documented 9-11 comments?

Heck Michael Moore could shoot a Movie that a certain Politician produces Gold Bricks every morning, that are being given to the Poor and Liberals would show up, to see and then buy the DVD. The bricks are not gold, heck they are not even in brick form. But he is still shoveling the stuff out to those foolish enough to believe it is Gold.

These are the Poster Children for Liberals held in high-high esteem.
