Untruths and unravelings

It's difficult to believe any government assertion about Obamacare

  • Follow Editorials

A lot of folks had cause to wonder if Barack Obama warranted the Nobel Peace Prize – winning it as he did all of seven months into his tenure.

The second-guessing has only mounted, due to his continued use of unmanned drone attacks, his lack of stalwart opposition to the killing in Syria, his odd sanguine approach to nuclear ambitions in Iran, and his directorship of an international spy ring that has even allies apoplectic.

But if they ever give out an award for sheer chutzpah, he should win hands-down.

After being caught in a most flagrant untruth – his promise that “If you like your health-care plan, you can keep it” – his response is: I never said that.

No, what he now says he said was that you can keep your health-care plan if none of its provisions changed after the Affordable Care Act was passed.

Sorry, Mr. President.

That’s just not true.

Not only did you not issue that qualifier over the past few years, you sometimes even ended your promise with the words “period” and “no matter what.”

That wasn’t true, and your insistence this week that you always included that new caveat is even less true.

Fact-checking website Politifact.com said it found 37 “if you like it you can keep it” promises by the president or his surrogates, and “we never found an instance in which he offered the caveat that it only applies to plans that hadn’t changed after the law’s passage.”

Politifact rated Mr. Obama’s utterings a “Pants on Fire” untruth.

Even the liberal Washington Post’s Fact Checker gave the president four “Pinocchios,” which is described as a “whopper.”

How is it that a president of the United States can issue such naked untruths and think he can get away with it? Because the formerly “mainstream” media have allowed it for five years?

Perhaps. But the nonstick coating the press has sprayed on Mr. Obama all these years is wearing off. Obama spokesman Jay Carney tried to use personal mocking and other diversions to escape tough questions from ABC News’ Jonathan Karl on Monday, but could not.

The administration also was being blatantly disingenuous when the president said you could avoid the website by calling and applying over the phone. In truth, that was just a longer way around to the website, as it turns out.

Says ABC News: “While President Obama and other top aides have publicly reassured frustrated consumers that they can bypass the troubled website and apply by phone in as little as 25 minutes ... ‘The same portal is used to determine eligibility no matter how the application is submitted (paper, online),’ reads a Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight memo from Oct. 11.

“ ‘The paper applications allow people to feel like they are moving forward in the process and provides another option,’
it says. ‘At the end of the day,
we are all stuck in the same queue.’ ”

Says CBS News: “A CBS News analysis finds key tests to ensure the security and privacy of customer information on (the) troubled Obamacare website fell behind schedule. ... A deadline for final security plans was delayed three times over the summer, and final top-to-bottom security tests never were finished before the launch.”

That last point is no small thing. This government is asking you – nay, forcing you – to trust it with your most basic, private and intrusive information – and to trust that no one else will see it.

Well, reports have already surfaced that indicate the process is wholly unsecured: A man in North Carolina received personal health information in the mail about a South Carolina man who had signed up for Obamacare.

It’s hard to know what things can be believed anymore.

And it’s sad to know the president isn’t one of them.

Well, now they are lying about the lying and think the public

will buy it because they think we are stupid. Of course, they are partly right otherwise Obama would not have been reelected.

There is some justice

An upper middle income couple in California had their insurance cancelled and their premiums have gone from $500+/ month to over $1000+/month. Their deductibles have increased and their coverage has gone down. They are writing letters, begging and pleading etc. They even wrote to SAN FRAN NAN , YOU HAVE TO PASS IT TO FIND OUT WHAT'S IN IT, PELOSI! Oh another lie of Obama is exposed, their cancelled insurance plan wasn't substandard. They just didn't believe it could happen to them! Oh did I mention they voted for Obama twice and supported the Affordable Care Act? BWAHAHAHAHAA

Look On The Bright Side

Unrest over Obamacare is going to save the Republican Party. The elections next year are going to reflect America's displeasure with this bureaucratic socialist nightmare.

On tv the demonstration

On tv the demonstration failed right on CSPAN.
Only 300 phone customer service phone representatives for the entire nation.
Computers are giving people the wrong plans.
The federal government isn't paying the funds so states are having to use their own funds for patients, or leave them untreated.

“This is a huge undertaking and there are going to be glitches. My goal is the same as yours: Get rid of the glitches."

“Any time something is new, there is going to be some glitches."

"I hope it doesn’t take us that long to get this right and I don’t believe that it will. And I do believe that fundamentally it is a good plan.”

"huge undertaking"

"huge undertaking"

Heh, no kidding. I'll just add an impossible, huge undertaking.

I still go back to the first criticism of Obamacare I saw and that was the elderly assisted living residents of a facility laughing at a Democratic Congressman as he explained health care would be cheaper under the plan. One old fellow asked how tens of millions more people could be provided insurance while paying little or nothing without others having to pay more. And that, my friends, is the crux of the matter...still.

oh, the media made our Emperor a new suit of clothes

that were invisible to the ignorant or those afraid of
being thought ignorant by disagreeing with him
He preens before his subjects in his new clothes
with an answer for every problem and every issue
"bigger government" he says
and those afraid of being thought ignorant agreed
“Does not my jacket fit me marvellously?” he declared
"yes," replied the media "it covers you like big government covers health care"
"Do not my shoes shine just perfectly?"
"Yes," replied the media. "They protect your feet just like the IRS protects you from conservatives."
"Do not my trousers hang just perfectly?"
"Yes," replied the media, "just like the ambassador in Benghazi. As pretty as any trousers in a movie."
"Is not my hat dashing?"
"Yes, it looks fast with a furious gleam."
and they all agreed his clothes were quite fashionable
and none wondered who paid for the clothes
and none cared

Not overnight

It takes a lifetime of liar activity to get to where obama is. It does not happen overnight. The sickness is called Sociopathic Personality, where you can no longer tell the difference between truth and lies. Mix that with a hatred of America and great distain for it's Constitution, and you have a monster on the loose. The government needs to clean it's act up by enacting some laws that prevent people with this sickness from entering politics. The stakes are too great, as we can see.

Excellent, well thought out comments.

Yesterday, I heard about a well of couple in CA whose health insurance premiums were going up so high they were going to have some difficulty affording them. This couple are such Obama worshipers that the course of action they are going to take is to reduce their income so they can get a subsidy and can continue to show their support for The One.

We have been lied to, we know it, they know it and now admit it.

Now the million dollar question.

But what recourse do we the citizens have, aside from waiting for 2014 elections to vote them out? (?maybe?)

In these modern times there needs to be, no there must be personal accountability for such deeds and mistakes.

If a publicly traded company had made these promises knowing they were false, there would have been serious repercussions.

But no Political Party has ever gone to jail for lying to the voters.
No Political party is held $$$$ responsible for national detrimental mistakes other than a few being force to retire early on the Taxpayer nickle.

So where is the accountability?

BILLIONS have been wasted, Millions have had their Health, no their very lives placed in jeopardy for the sake of a Socialist Pipe Dream and Political Agenda.

A political agenda they now FINALLY admit, is not what they sold us, not what they promised us or Not something they can deliver.

To use an analogy:
The Liberals and National Healthcare are like, Wild e. Coyote both tried for years to catch their version of a Road Runner. When they both finally did achieve their goal, they were puzzled what to do now because they never planned what to do next with it.

The first goal for Obama was

The first goal for Obama was to get the his healthcare law passed at all cost. He had to say whatever was necessary to accomplish this goal including bribery. He will do whatever is necessary to make sure his law stays in place because he knows it will grow and morph into a single payer system over time. He is perfectly willing to sacrifice a few democratic senators and congressmen in the next election but the ACA will remain. Repeal is the only acceptable option !

Look folks, Obama started

Look folks, Obama started lying to the American people back when he claimed to be a "foreign student" to get college grants. He has been lying to the American people ever since. He came into office lying to the American people and there is absolutely no reason to expect that he won't go out the same way.

He is a pathologic, narcissistic liar and will say ANYTHING to promote his socialist ideology. He did this with "green energy" while throwing your money in the toilet knowing that the companies he was giving your money to WERE ALREADY BANKRUPT, he is doing it with his "environmental commission" which is a "executive order" attempt to take over control of the rest of the economy, and of course his "you can keep it" BLATANT lie is simply the most obvious, undeniable lie that even the Democrats cannot deny. It is certainly not the only lie he has told and certainly not the worst lie he has told but it IS a MAJOR lie that is undeniable and even Obama cannot hide it or cover up.

And while you are complaining about Obama lying to you just remember.....the REST OF THE DEMOCRATS lied to you right along with him for the last 3 years knowing that NONE OF OBAMACARE is what they told you it would be. You cannot keep anything. The middle class WILL PAY LOTS MORE. You health care WILL BE WORSE and HARDER TO GET. Those ARE the facts. As Obama would say "period. End of story". Obama LIED and the DEMOCRATS swore to it.

Let me hear you say it.......the REPUBLICANS were RIGHT.

I believe

I believe that if a political candidate (no matter who or what party they belong to) is found to have willingly and knowingly lied on a basic part of their platform to be elected that they should be removed from office.

Yes, it is good that the media and the public are holding President Obama to the fire about this lie BUT the damage is already done. If the president had been truthful about everything in the election he never would have won. Now, he gives a half tongue-in-cheek apology but we can't go back. Not only is he a chronic liar but he also continues to use the excuse of "I didn't know". I didn't know about Benghazi and I didn't know about the IRS attack on conservative groups. This president is bad news and Americans are so gullible they fall for it every time.

The press covered for Obama

The press covered for Obama when Joe the Plumber asked Obama about "spreading the wealth"! They even obtained confidential information about Joe and the press published it. Plain skewered Obama after the convention and the press went after Palin like a pack of wolfs on a lame deer. After Palin spoke at the convention and labeled Obama exactly what he was the press went crazy. Well the press can no longer cover or ignore Obama's lies! I watched Juan Williams try to defend Obama and his roll in the roll out, it came down to the "By Stander President ". " Weil Obama didn't know because he isn't a computer geek" says Juan. This is what happens when you take a community organizer with no experience and make him the CEO of the most powerful nation on earth and he wants to transform it!

One of the ACC headlines
Unpublished

One of the ACC headlines today is an increase of 204, 000 jobs in October.

If that had happened to be a loss instead of a gain, and the ACC had an editorial bemoaning that you and the other choir members would have your usual amens and blaming Obama.

But you can bet that the ACC is not going to have an editorial giving Obama any credit for the increase and I can bet you and the choir wouldn't either.

If the conservative choir on here is open minded, I'd hate to see a closed minded choir.

Hey dahreese

Are you open minded enough to give Obama credit for this?

"In spite of the gain in jobs, the overall number of Americans with a job fell by 735,000, to less than 144 million. Just 58.3% of adults were employed in October."
