Skepticism of global warming is rising faster than the temperature.

Though President Obama this summer cynically mocked global warming skeptics as “a meeting of the flat-Earth society,” a new report called “Climate Change Reconsidered II: Physical Science” says human impact on the
climate is negligible. Moreover, warming adherents have to explain away a 15-year plateau in global temperatures.

Accordingly, a British report says flat-out dismissal of global warming there has quadrupled since 2005.

And if they want to call skeptics wacko, what about warming devotees who’ve made continued apocalyptic predictions – such as monster hurricane seasons every year?

And, as noted by the BBC, scientists in 2007 predicted “northern polar waters could be ice-free in summers” by 2013.

Oops. Arctic ice actually grew by 60 percent over the past year.

We don’t know who’s right. But the evidence isn’t nearly the slam dunk proponents put on.

We certainly hope the mixed messages don’t diminish our collective appetite for taking reasonable steps to reduce pollution.

But in the meantime, maybe the rhetoric ought to cool.

Like so many things pushed by the left, "climate change"

is another grab for power and redistribution of wealth. Not only is this redistribution from individual to individual, it is also from country to country.

It is also Obama's way of taking the country down a notch to make it less prosperous because energy is the engine of prosperity. His war on coal is a perfect example of trying to destroy an industry that provides 40% of our energy and is the cheapest source.

One of the things that happen after the fall of communism was the migration of the communists to the environmental movement and a concerted effort to destroy capitalism.

Right now one of the anchors dragging our economy is the out of control EPA. Under its mandates and the laws passed by the democrats when they were in charge of all of the levers of government, their are companies paying fines because they have not implemented "green" technology that does not exists. Why is this? Because when the congress and senate passed the law they assumed the technology would be available today and if it were not implemented the companies involved would have to pay the fines.

There is no proof that CO2, which compromises 3/10 of one percent of the atmosphere, creates atmospheric warming. It may actually be the opposite that warming causes an increase of CO2. Cloud cover may have more of an impact on the earth's temperature than anything than the sun. Nitrogen makes up 78.084% of the atmosphere with oxygen making up 20.946%.

Therefore, one can see CO2 is really a trace element in our atmosphere but it is singled out as the bad guy because man does produce it as he makes a more prosperous, higher and safer standard of living. And as our president has insinuated, it ain't fair for us to be better off than some other countries.

CLIMATE CHANGE
Unpublished

When temperature data didn't support the global warming alarm being pushed they changed it to climate change. Meaning that anything that happens must be caused by man instead of it being a natural occurrence. Nearly every so called fact of climate change has been debunked so now all the alarmists can do is call non believers names. Al Gore and his ilk have made billions pushing this nonsense for the sake of pure greed. I wonder how the climate change that occurred before dirty old man started polluting can be explained away. Maybe it was the dino's fault.

Sorry, Michael

Sorry, Michael, not all of us are so gullible. For starters, few people depend on Fox News for information on climate science. Even fewer rely on the Heartland Institute, a right-wing "think" tank which promotes the usual and predicable positions of conservative ideology. And, if possible, fewer yet would treat Dr. Willie Soon, the scientist behind the Heartland's Climate Change Reconsidered report, as a credible source. Soon is an astrophysicist and geophysicist with no training in climate science, whose
"studies" on global warming are funded by Exxon, the American Petroleum Institute, big coal, and the Koch brothers. And yet these are the organizations and individuals you, Michael, choose to believe. Of course you did not reveal these sources in your piece, for obvious reasons. Furthermore, the assertion that the Arctic icecaps "grew by 60% over the past year" has been widely discussed, a discussion which readers can easily access by googling. This icecap assertion is tantamount to saying that there is no global warming because the high temperature in Augusta, Georgia, on August 16th this summer was 68 degrees!

EEL

See the problem is the models the warmists tout have said the Artic would be ice free in 2013 and instead it's increasing. Since the vast majority of the models they use have not been accurate in predicting actual weather how can they be relied upon to predict the climate decades in advance.

Face it. It's all about the "elite intellectuals" trying to run people's lives. There are more true climate scientists who disbelieve the alarmists than there are those who do. There would be even fewer supporting the theory of man made global warming if they didn't receive grants for research supporting it.

As usual, full disclosure is not in The Augusta Chronicle code of ethics (do they have one?). The report cited is from an organization fronted by The Heartland Institute. This entry in Wikipedia says it all: "in the 1990s, the group worked with the tobacco company Philip Morris to question serious cancer risks to secondhand smoke, and to lobby against government public-health reforms.[12][13][14] More recently, the Institute has focused on questioning the science of human-caused climate change, and was described by the New York Times as "the primary American organization pushing climate change skepticism."[15] The Institute has sponsored meetings of climate change skeptics,[16] and has been reported to promote public school curricula challenging the scientific consensus on human-caused climate change."

"It's all about the "elite

"It's all about the "elite intellectuals" trying to run people's lives."

That, my friends, is the bottom line. You have to create a panic before you can justify controlling peoples lives. They won't put up with it when they know the truth. The TRUTH is there is NATURAL warming and NATURAL cooling. The liberal greenie weenie's never seem to mention that the good old earth has warmed and cool many times BEFORE there were men on earth, before there was industry, cars, and power generation, and it will continue to warm and cool WITHIN A RANGE. And anybody who believes we can impact the process by DOUBLING THE COST OF ELECTRICITY is a big a fool as the greenie weenies.

I'm sorry greenie weenies.....the EVIDENCE is just NOT THERE to support man-made global warming. In fact, it's not there to support any global warming at all. Just normal variances.

And your "alternative energy".....well, solar panels have proven to be not economically viable. Large solar panel arrays have proven to damage the grounds and animals surround the arrays by cooling the ground. And solar panels on roofs have proven to be safety hazards when fight structure fires and they prevent firemen from getting water onto a fire. And your wind turbines.....well, they are proving to be EXTREME environmental hazards to eagles, migrating birds, and birds in general.

So.....you do not have an "alternative" and, in fact, there is NO proof that there is a problem. QUIT WASTING OUR MONEY AND DRIVING UP THE COST OF ENERGY.

It's much deeper than that!! Global warming is yet another subliminal way of weakening people's faith in God and it works quite well, because MANY "Christians" fall right into it, without even realizing what's happening.

How can you believe in a God that is in FULL CONTROL and believe He would allow MANKIND to destroy one of his greatest creations?? Simple question. The Bible say's in numerous places that God created this earth to be inhabited and it shall stand FOREVER!!

MyFather, you raise a good point.

If one looks at the history of the progressive movement, it really picked up stream under Wilson and the big start of the push to support Darwinism. You see if we are nothing but something that "evolved" from swamp water over millions of years and there is no Creator that means nobody is in control. So, if no external force is in control that means it's man's fault for anything that goes wrong.

There is no way we could destroy this world even if we wanted to. The bedrock of the left is evolution and a disbelief in God...at least the God of the Bible. Oh, some have what I call "cafeteria religion" where they pick and choose what they want to believe. Too bad some of that disbelief has covertly sneaked its way into the thinking of some God-fearing people when it comes to the Creation vs evolution debate. They sadly don't even realizing what they are absorbing.

Dichotomy....

...nailed it.

Man-made global warming is (and has always been) a hoax.

It has been invented by the left to fleece America as part of an effort to transfer wealth.

They have lied and cheated for years trying to concoct "proof" that their lies are the truth.

You should do whatever you can to help vote any politician out of office who participates in the anti-American charade.

EEL needs to rethink his

EEL needs to rethink his position. Judith Curry Georgia Tech climate scientist and co author of the Best study found no warming for ten years. I remember the prediction that snow was going to be rare in England. Almost ALL climate models put up by the Global warming scientist are at the low temperature extremes of their predictions and in a year or so will be off the scale. This isn't science, they miss more predictions than they hit!

Which is better?

Be really cold? Or being hot? It seems as man has greatest progressions when the climate has been warm. There would be nothing wrong with MN had the climate of KS and had longer summers and longer growing seasons.

Colder the climate, shorter the growing season and fewer advancements for man.
