Bottom Line -- Your two cents

  • Follow Editorials

We are more wired together than ever, and seemingly less connected.

Exhibit A: What happened to South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley this past week.

The mother turned to go back inside the governor’s mansion after sending her son off to school and found herself locked out and in her bathrobe.

Luckily her daughter was inside to let her in. But when Haley self-deprecatingly posted a humorous reference to the episode on her Facebook page, she actually got criticism – particularly from the Democratic Party, which tried to make political hay out of a mom’s minor miscue. Others followed suit, taking swipes at the governor.

Can we just chill for five minutes? Good grief. The woman was sharing an amusing anecdote like anyone else on Facebook. Can’t we allow our elected leaders to be human anymore? Must they be criticized at every turn? Does the election cycle never take a breath?

Partly because of persistent politicization, and partly because everybody has to weigh in on everything these days, we leave each other no room to be real or human. Give it a rest once in awhile!

We happen to know Ms. Haley and know her to be utterly charming, whip-smart, articulate and down to earth, as she has proven. Today, that’s never good enough.

In this day and age of Facebook pages and Twitter and smart phones and anonymous snap-judgments, it’s important to remember there’s a human being on the other end of your two-cents’ worth.

Funny stuff, ACES. Ever read your own comments sections...or are you too busy on Facebook? Not saying that I support additional censorship, but the hypocrisy is alarming. Or is there only a human being on the end of the two-cents worth if they are big advertisers in your tabloid....(e.g., the Weinbergers) or someone you politically support (e.g., Gov. Haley)?

It ain't no human being.

It's just a tissue mass that survived to adulthood in their eyes.

Bozos Will Claim...

As long as the story didn't end with her in a hotel bar while some bozo claims intimate knowledge of her. That woman has endured all kinds of derogatory "news" reports. This incident made the national news.

Devalue some life

and the trend spreads to all life.

It's the same kind of thing that creates a monster who without a second thought will shoot a sleeping baby between the eyes to get his mother's pittance of grocery money.

Haley's attackers used non-lethal bullets, but they got their thrill at her expense all the same. And, yes, it is disgusting what people will say, because of their class envy and hatred of rules and decency.

The Weinberger tragedy is a good case in point. Not in my whole life, not even in middle school have I ever witnessed such savagery from people who are able to compose a coherent sentence. And why? It was pure envy and maliciousness from people who didn't even know the Weinbergers apart from their tv commercials. Such savage treatment of a devastated and decent family was monstrous and the AC was exactly right to put an end to it.

And to this day, from those who partook so happily, not a shred of shame or remorse. It's still sickening.

Haley is just the current victim of this pathologically prolonged and pathetically adolescent revenge of the big-L Losers. I find this group generally drools over Obozo as well, which pretty much fits.

the 2 party political sharpshooters.
That why I am a Fiscal conservative independent.

This from folks who have come

This from folks who have come up with born in Kenya, birth certificate, ridiculous amounts of money for trips, criticize every vacation while they ignored the exponential amount more by a predecessor, etc., etc. etc. We can see through the glass house.

You blame them?

I mean the Democratic Party wants to talk about anything, anything other than the inept job their President is doing.

like their constituent negroes. they need to get over themselves. If you put them all together, they wouldn't be worth enough to buy A McNugget.

Yeah, Harley, I thought so too

But obviously many fail to make the connection.

Which shows why they are part of the problem in our crumbling civilization.

Some people simply can't be led by the carrot and therefore must be driven by the whip. Easy come, easy go. It was nice when the general level and standards of civility made it unnecessary to have such burdensome laws and invasive government.

"We can see through the glass house."

Not really, but you've convinced yourself that there is a glass house and that you can see through it.

Congratulations.

"Where was her security detail?"

In the kitchen playing cards. No need to follow her to the front door.

There was security at the gate.

Remember the mountain made

Remember the mountain made out of Sen Rubio's taking a drink of water during a speech? Same brain dead leftists wanting to change the discussion from their pathetic leader.
