An end to an insult

America's most dishonorable soldier is finally punished

  • Follow Editorials

Having already slaughtered 13 of his colleagues in cold blood, treacherous turncoat Nidal Hasan now seems to have a death wish for himself.

A military jury was thankfully able to oblige him Wednesday, sentencing the reprobate to death for the 2009 Fort Hood killings of 13 and wounding of 30.

A major in the U.S. Army, Hasan made his increasing Islamic radicalism well known before, during and after his rampage – chanting the usual radical Muslim gibberish during it, and claiming later that he was defending his overseas fellow Muslims from U.S. attack.

He is without doubt the worst excuse for an American who ever donned a military uniform, and the most contemptible, vile, detestable traitor we can remember.

The only persuadable hesitation to executing this wretch is that his perverted sense of martyrdom cries out for it. You hate to give him what he wants. But the thought of him drawing tax-paid breath for decades to come is exponentially more abhorrent.

Besides, as the lead prosecutor advised the military jury, “You cannot offer what you don’t own; you cannot give away what is not yours. He can never be a martyr because he has nothing to give. ... Do not be misled, do not be confused, do not be fooled. He is not giving his life. We are taking his life. This is not his gift to God; it’s his debt to society.”

In short, Nidal, game over; you lose. You lost everything and gained nothing. You’re worse than a waste of space; you’re a misappropriation of it.

Nearly as offensive as Hasan himself is the inexcusable, repugnant manner in which the federal government has handled this case. His superiors failed utterly to flag his growing extremism, and even seemed to reward it. The military took forever to try him. An investigative report tried desperately to bleach the Islamic radicalism out of the case. And the Obama administration has insanely and contemptuously classified the brazen terrorist attack on an Army base as “workplace violence.”

As if this Army – which was actually promoting him right along – had given him anything to be disgruntled about.

The classification of workplace violence denies survivors the combat-related benefits rightfully due to any military member who comes under enemy fire.

This was enemy fire. And it’s a deliberate, un-American poke in the eye for this administration to say otherwise.

All the while, you should know that since the massacre, taxpayers have paid Hasan nearly $300,000.

The insults just keep coming.

The Hasan case also pulled back the curtain on the inanity – and risk to life and limb – of the entrenched political correctness in today’s military. Our very military that is fighting to keep us safe from such blood-thirsty demonic zealots was openly harboring one.

Have we not learned one thing from the mistakes of 9-11?

Lastly, if Nidal Hasan thinks he did his Muslim brethren any favors, he’s loonier than anyone thought. Along with his other moon-chasing nut-case radical friends, he has only besmirched one of the world’s most populous faiths. And he has made cross-cultural and interfaith reconciliation all the more difficult.

Then again, that, too, is probably what he wanted.

The Insult is Not Ended

Major Hasan will make at least one more contribution to the Jihad's war effort, thanks to the system. His mandatory appeals will drag on for years, and will continue the attrition war of public expense. The taxpayer will be paying for this for a long time to come, and that is part of the war. It is a proven technique. We defeated the Soviet Union by convincing them to spend themselves to death. Hasan and his friends are doing the same to us, and just as the Soviet Union cooperated with our strategy against them, we are cooperating with the strategy against us.

"Lastly, if Nidal Hasan thinks he did his Muslim brethren any favors, he’s loonier than anyone thought."

Well, I believe "loony" is a given!! They need to execute him AS SOON as possible!! If he WANTS to die, then he shouldn't appeal and we can go ahead with the execution. Kill this animal quickly and don't allow him ANY more publicity; besides the news of his execution.

Martyr? The only people who will consider him a martyr are radical idiots, just like him; so who cares? Put him out of societies misery and he will, for the most part; be forgotten in no time!! It's the publicity that keeps him in the spot light!! Most people won't give him a second thought, shortly after his execution. Unfortunately, the victims and victim's families with have a lifelong memory of him, and that is truly sad!! I hope they find peace!!

One real insult was the lying commie in the WH calling this 'work place violence' instead of the terrorism that it was.

It is a crying shame to what level of political correctness

the military has sunk to under obama and his conspirators of the left. What is further embarrassing is the lack of back bone of the senior generals in the military who will fudge information to support the political social agenda of the left. One example of this is the officer and NCO corps were told during the "survey" phase of the lifting of the ban on homosexuals in the military that any negative input by them would mean an end of their careers.

This administration has been sympathizing with the muslims in every way they can. They eliminated any reference to muslims or mid-east radicals in all training manuals of the military and FBI. When have you ever heard obama say "radical Islamists"? Never! He will say "radical extremists" but that is as far as he will go.

A further shame with the Ft Hood situation is the way the victims have been kicked to the curb as far as medical support and other benefits. As a Purple Heart recipient myself, I do not think they should have been awarded the Purple Heart because they were not in a combat zone which is one of the requirements. However, they should have been eligible for every other benefit.

Hasan could not be tried as a terrorist because it is my understanding there is no portion of the UMCJ (Uniformed Code of Military Justice) which covers terrorism.

This thing really dragged on too long as does everything with this group of obama clowns. It just took over four years to award this 12th Medal of Honor the other day. Lack of decision making skill is their hallmark. The Canadians are wanting to sell us oil cheaper than than it can be extracted out of the ground in CA and he can't even make a decision as quickly as a young second lieutenant could.

Work Place Violence May Be Neccessary

I'm not a lawyer, but I think you have to call it "work place violence". If Hasan is an enemy combatant, you have to follow the Geneva conventions. In other words, treat him like a prisoner of war.

On the other hand, if he's just a evil criminal it's OK to execute him.

This comment is not to support Nidal Hisan.

It is, however to point out that we have our own "Christian' extremists in the form of fundamentalist "Christian" ministers who stand in their pulpits and call for a war in the Middle East in order to hasten the "return of Jesus" - never mind how many innocent people will be killed in such a war.

John Hagee for example, but not limited to him.

fair thing to do with him, since he's muslim, would be to return him to Mecca. Since he's technically still in the military, I'd fly him there in a military transport on it's way to Afghanistan. At 30,000 feet, I'd toss his a-- out without a parachute.

When one reads Baldwin one sees he is anti-sematic, anti-Israel and an isolationist who distorts facts, figures, and information to fit a leftist position. I would much have Hagee as my pastor than Baldwin. One of the problems with the pulpits today is there are not enough Hagees occupying them.

It's hard to disagree

I can not disagree with this editorial. If sooo many witnesses saw this guy kill so many people, why in the world does our DUE_PROCESS legal system allow for 10 or more years of appeals??!! I may be a libaral, BUT I BELIEVE in the death penalty, perticularly in these kind of "SLAM-DUNK" cases!!

Well, let's examine your accusations and come up with two questions; what has Baldwin distorted in this column or any other column that will support your viewpoint (I'm supposing your read him more often than I do);

Outside of some strategic reason, why is it that when I or someone else does not support Israel there is always the accusation of being "anti-semitic?"

Tell it!

It is nice to see the ACES with gloves off and calling it as it is within the confines of decorum.

There should be some way to sell raffle tickets with a winning grand prize of getting to hit the switch to begin the sodium thiopental, pancuronium bromide, potassium chloride drip.

He Should Be Executed...

...immediately. He should be shot, un-blindfolded, multiple times with a handgun of the same caliber he used to murder his victims. Like a couple of others have already commented, I volunteer to do the shooting.

Another outrage still survives even after this terrorist was convicted and sentenced. The victims are still being screwed by the federal government who continues to treat this terrorist attack as "workplace violence," thereby keeping the eligible victims from receiving Purple Hearts or receiving other benefits available to wartime casualties.

Disgusting and unfair.

Hassan's time in Augusta

Hassan's time in Augusta would be an interesting subject. Maybe we were closer than we'll ever know. Let me ask...Does anyone know about Hassan being in Augusta his last year of med school at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences? Contact me via e-mail if you know about this. I have a twist on this.

Maybe Russian Roulette would

Maybe Russian Roulette would be a good execution for him? Do it five times a day and if the revolver doesn't go off the first day, do it five times again the following day and so forth until it finally fires!! Could you imagine the mental anguish of not knowing if the gun is going to fire or not? If anyone is deserving of this type treatment, he is!!

But, to be honest with you, we don't need this!! All we need is for people like this to be completely GONE as soon as possible. As much as he deserves it, we don't need to torture him; just kill him quickly and society is all the better!!

Sorry to disagree, but of course Fort Hood was a combat zone.

Korea is NOT a combat zone but it became one briefly for five of my men who were ambushed and killed by North Korean infiltrators. They received the CIB at my request. And they all received the Purple Heart. They deserved it.

So do those military personnel who were injured and killed at Fort Hood.

The Military Personnel...

...who were injured/killed at the Pentagon on 9/11/01 were awarded the Purple Heart.

So should be those injured/killed at Fort Hood.

Makes NO sense to treat them differently. In both cases the perpetrators were hollering "alahu Akbar!"
