Bottom Line: Loony excuses

  • Follow Editorials

A suspect in the infamous May 3 Riverwalk attack says he was “just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

A local burglar convicted of shooting a good Samaritan in the face in 2011 claims, “It wasn’t my intention to hurt anybody.”

Do you think maybe we’re a little delusional?

What did young Stanley L. Fields – now sentenced to 45 years in prison – think he would do by shooting good Samaritan Wayne Eggins Jr. in the face? That’s not exactly ProFlowers.com.

As for Riverwalk beating suspect Kevin D. Richardson’s complaint that he was maybe just with the wrong company that night a couple was severely beaten with a metal ball bat – what did he think would happen when he took a stroll with a fellow wielding a bat? Romance?

There ought to be extra prison time for loony, offensive excuses.

Roving bands of "street dogs". As the old joke said, it you can't eat it, drink it, or have sex with it, or urinate on it , it is of no value. To the street dogs of course.

The bottom layer of the human development pyramid. You do not have the "thump the Bible" to find these, science has them on record.

no excuse!

Ok, so Richardson says he was at the wrong place and the wrong time. Let's say you didn't inflict one blow on either of these fellow human beings. But you almost committed a more serious "crime": you stood by and watched while your friend beat them to the point of head injuries and altered their lives forever. You did nothing to stop him, nothing to help them as they struggled to fight off his blows, you left them there to bleed and possibly die as you fled like the coward you are with the coward the other fellow is. Shame on you. If you are truly innocent of actually striking these young people, you are still guilty of being an accomplice because you did nothing. I am praying that I can be as forgiving as your victims are because you definitely need mercy and hope.

Maybe he thought his buddy was carrying the

bat because he was looking for a "pick-up" game.

Is there a jail bad enough for those two? Don't know, just asking...

"My 10 year old grandson has better moral

values!"

He should! He has yet to learn the pleasures and rewards of deviancy.

In the meantime, your mission, and that of his parents, (Should you choose to accept it. It does border on the mission impossible.) is to ingrain in him the self restraint needed to ignore those "benefits" when they present themselves.

They did, they do have weapons of mass destruction.

We know, because WE gave them weapons of mass destruction. WMD's are defined by the motive and moment.

serious comments?

Ok, enough of the jokes and attempts at cleverness. What about some intelligent thoughts on the matter? Thanks.
