You also have to wonder where the justice is for the 9-11 conspirators. And of the 2012 attack on our embassy in Benghazi, Libya, President Obama also promised that, “we are going to bring those who killed our fellow Americans to justice.” Seen any signs of that?
Meanwhile, the self-anointed “most transparent administration in history” features a sitting attorney general who has been found in contempt of Congress for not helping lawmakers get to the bottom of the Fast and Furious scandal – in which the administration purposely allowed high-powered weapons to get into the hands of dangerous Mexican drug cartels. The debacle ended with untold people killed, including U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.
This president also has invoked executive privilege to keep information about the Fast and Furious scandal from becoming public.
When this administration got four embassy personnel killed in Benghazi – after stubbornly refusing to step up security there after repeated requests, even on the anniversary of 9-11 – they lied through their teeth about it. Even though the facts now say otherwise, the Obama administration, led by U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, repeatedly lied and said the embassy attack was the result of a protest over an anti-Islam video on the Internet.
The administration now admits there was no protest before the attack – meaning that someone in the administration simply manufactured the fairy tale.
Yet no one has been held accountable.
In fact, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in a fit of concocted indignation, angrily demanded of Congress in January, “What difference at this point does it make?”
She may be right, though not in the way she thinks. She may be right that, in contemporary American society, nearly nothing matters anymore. Certainly not the truth, anyway.
Consider: The former secretary of state who basically said it doesn’t matter what led to the killing of four Americans in Benghazi – and who, herself, took personal responsibility for the titanic failures that left our embassy personnel as sitting ducks – is still the darling of the media and an instant frontrunner for president in 2016.
Indeed, little else would be needed to prove that nothing matters anymore.
But you have to wonder: Just where is the “mainstream” media in all this?
Why didn’t they demand the resolution of Nidal Hasan’s case, or the prosecution of the 9-11 conspirators? Why aren’t they the least bit interested in who authorized Fast and Furious? Why do they exhibit no curiosity whatsoever with regard to where the Benghazi suspects are? Or the surviving victims, for that matter?
On the latter question, Secretary Clinton testified she hadn’t even talked to any of the survivors. Her successor, John Kerry, said he’d talked to one.
Believe it or not, six months after the attack we don’t even know for sure how many Americans were injured in the Benghazi attack, who they are or where they are. Investor’s Business Daily notes that several Republicans report they’ve heard that “as many as 30” Americans were injured.
Really? We’re going on rumors?
If there’s no curiosity in the majority of the media; if there’s no accountability for the government’s lies, blunders and cover-ups; if there’s no expectation that fundamental actions of justice will follow terrorist or criminal acts; if basic honesty and truth is no longer a prerequisite for holding and maintaining public office – then, honestly, what does matter?
