A poor investment

America wasted monetary, military aid on Egypt's Islamist regime

  • Follow Editorials

John Kerry lightheartedly asserted Americans’ right to be stupid recently.

And then he set about to prove it.

The new secretary of state this week pledged to release $250 million in aid to Egypt – using money that the U.S. doesn’t have to shore up support for an authoritarian Islamist regime in Cairo that may not even have the support of the Egyptian people for long.

And at a time in which the Obama administration cynically closed our White House to public tours due to a lack of money!

There is no making sense of this. It’s just stupid.

We also recently rewarded the clearly anti-Semitic Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi with four fighter jets, the latest among 224 such F-16s going to a country in political upheaval and on track to become a theocracy like Iran.

The New York Times had this to say recently:

“Nearly three years ago, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood delivered a speech urging Egyptians to ‘nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred’ for Jews and
Zionists. In a television interview months later, the same leader described Zionists as ‘these bloodsuckers who attack the Palestinians, these warmongers, the descendants of apes and pigs.’

“That leader, Mohamed Morsi, is now president of Egypt.”

This guy? This guy is worth a $250 million U.S. taxpayer bet?

And in case you didn’t know it, the Muslim Brotherhood is not only racist and violent, but also nearly as women-hating as the Taliban. Where the heck are American feminists on this issue?

Would America have shipped fighter jets and $250 million in cool cash to the racist regime in South Africa at the height of apartheid? Of course not. Fact is, Americans protested outside the White House to get this country to denounce apartheid and cut all ties with it.

So how is this administration able to get away with actually strengthening ties with – and throwing our money willy-nilly at – an equally reprehensible ideology?

So If I agree and call these

So If I agree and call these people "stupid" too. Will my comments be removed. Hee,hee, hee. Seems pretty accurate doesn't it as the notion the president has to make people suffer with his sequestration . Did you note how his spokesman yesterday demogogued it with "well we have to cut these tours so poor kids won't suffer". What a load. There is just one word for our president-EVIL. Yes he would sell his soul and destory America-all to make Rep suffer.

Don't listen, but watch.

You cannot expect to get any truth from a liar, and a nasty habit like that does not come and go from day to day. Look at what the man DOES to get a bearing on what he's about and where he's going.

Time to end foreign aid to all regimes who fall short

of our ideals, which would be most recipients, in fact.

Ah yes, the Children may

Ah yes, the Children may suffer because of sequestration, but not the government of Eygpt or Obama's vacation plans, one does have to have their priorties in order correct?

Don't forget

that Obama is a muslim sympathizer and his actions have shown that. I know of no action he has taken where there was a conflict between muslims and others where he did not take the side of Islam or give only lipservice to support to the other side. Have you heard anything from this administration as to the thousands of Christians who are being forced out of Egypt? Nothing.
We should give money to another country only if it is in OUR best interest. Not to support any government that does not support us. That would include any votes in the UN. If a country votes against OUR interest, they get no money at all from us.

was smart enough to marry into the Heinz fortune. He's as useless as hitlary. Just as dangerous to Americans.

Okay. Dee is right. It has been obvious

Okay. It has been obvious from the beginning that Obama has a special fondness for Muslims...
He said so back in 2008... still voted in...

I read today how close the

I read today how close the White House Easter egg hunt came to be a victim of sequestration. There are no depths to which that creature will not go to get his way.

very plain to see, that the Muslims know they have an Allah in charge of the U.S.

Augusta homicides up, but no cases recently
Although Augusta homicides are up compared with this time last year, police say a two-month absence of any is proof that some of their crime initiatives are paying off.
