Heaping on the hate

Liberals abandon decency in heightened political attacks

  • Follow Editorials

Political disagreements should be kept out of the classroom, the school bus and the gutter.

But there have been several recent troubling incidents of liberal hatred toward Mitt Romney supporters – with even schoolchildren being among the victims.

Recall that black actress Stacey Dash was attacked mercilessly, and in racist ways, for her recent “tweet” supporting Republican presidential nominee Romney.

Likewise, Friday Night Lights author and journalist Buzz Bissinger, who calls himself a lifelong Democrat, says he was verbally assaulted in the most profane manner after he said in an article on left-wing website The Daily Beast that he’s getting more conservative with age and that he likes Romney.

“It wasn’t just, you know, ‘I disagree with you.’ It was the f-word, it was ‘you’re a baby killer,’” he said on CNN.

The poisonous malice directed at him prompted him to joke to CNN that he should be in the federal Witness Protection Program. The thing is, it’s no joke. It’s a troubling trend of open hatred being directed at people espousing conservative views.

Consider what two children have had to endure recently.

In Philadelphia, geometry teacher Lynette Gaymon publicly mocked and humiliated 16-year-old Samantha Pawlucy for her Romney T-shirt. Since word spread of the teacher’s offensive behavior, both teacher and student have received threats and insults, and both were unable to return to school.

In New Berlin, Wis., a school bus driver told a 12-year-old boy he should have been aborted because of a Romney sign in his yard. The driver has been fired – but not before the boy was no doubt traumatized.

In Evans, three people were arrested after vandalizing Romney/Ryan signs connected to Lee Anderson for Congress signs. The three were already in custody for spray-painting at a local business, but the sign vandalism has all the earmarks of political motivations.

No one feels more passionately about this election than The Augusta Chronicle. But when passion mutates into poison, that’s completely out of line, utterly outside the American spirit of freedom of speech and the peaceful transfer of power, and should not be tolerated even by those espousing the same views as the offenders.

Especially where children are concerned.

Have some decency, folks.

All this falls squarely on
Unpublished

All this falls squarely on the democrats feet, they have been fostering this kind of behavior for years now. I just wish some liberal would say something like that to one of my kids, it will not be unkind words they will have to worry about, it will be more physical in nature. Liberals have gone too far and it is past time we knock them backwards a bit before they ruin this country. All liberals are cowards and pathetic excuses for human beings. If someone wanted to make an argument for abortion, pointing to a liberal would be a good start, anyone could take a look at one and listen to them a bit and conclude that maybe abortion would not be such a bad idea for some, even if it needs to be after the fact.

Evidently it happens so often

Evidently it happens so often that the AC staff has had to use Stacey Dash, an irrelevant "B" actress, twice in editorials in the past 2 weeks. They have to stretch to find incidents that fit their predetermined story line. Of course it's always against Obama and the Democrats. Find some isolated incidents of people being jerks and it's "all democrats are evil". How about an editorial on something that really matters? Nathan Sproul would be a good start. Others would be PinPoint Staffing, Strategic Allied Consulting, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner, and Gov. Rick Scott. That would be an editorial that matters.

One of Romney's son said he

One of Romney's son said he wanted to take a swing at Obama during the last debate. Said this on radio, during an interview. I can find other examples of republicans being nasty, which include shooting a democratic campaign office.

Do we want to play this game- because in about an hour- I can start working on this list...

There are jerks on both

There are jerks on both sides. You just won't hear about the nutty right wingers from the AC. Why not post some Ann Coulter quotes??

Tparty, you and Techfan just don't understand

Perhaps because it has become second nature to trash conservatives. Sure you can find examples of conservatives trashing libs, but libs trashing conservatives has become a national pastime.

I believe it has something to do with a latent inferiority complex, but I’m no psychiatrist, so that’s just a hunch.

I think the far-right just

I think the far-right just think of themselves as victims since they are becoming a shrinking minority. That it’s easier to poke fun of them with their loony tune ideas, false outrage, and serious hypocrisy and blinders than any other group. Just so much material there.

So just today- there is a letter on AC of some person crying about how Christians should never vote democrat- because of the abortion issue. But then there area lot of republicans who get abortions when they need it! And the example was given of a Republican Christian who wanted his mistress to have an abortion, so he can continue with his marriage.

The AC is outraged that people messed with signs. While the actions are stupid- I don’t see the outrage of when campaign offices are shot at, like the democratic one in Denver. And just mentioned earlier- Romney’s son went did an interview recently and how he confessed that he wanted to walk down and take a swing at the President of the United States of America, because… he didn’t like how the debate was going? I can go find a lot of negative things the far right does.

Did you guys ever read comments on the foxnews.com ? Do you know why they were disabled? Because of how disgusting the far right can be on the internet. Just as disgusting as anyone else. I bet whoever moderates this board on AC can show some choice far right disgusting comments.

I believe the bigger issue is

I believe the bigger issue is what is considered “acceptable”.

TParty, You are absolutely correct. We could spend days giving examples of incivility.

BUT there is a difference. Not a single day goes by without some lib in the media making an outrageous/disgusting comment about a conservative with no more fallout than a wink and a nod.

Shut Up! No, You Shut Up!

Reminds me of children, "I can put you down, but don't you dare say anything back". Sounds like Teresa and Ramona from two of The Housewives shows. Both political parties are guilty of it, but the Democrats do it more often and more viciously(they are sooooo good at it).

Again- the destroying of

Again- the destroying of signs is not cool. It should be called out- it happened in our back yard. However, where is the outrage by ACES when Colin Small, a man employed by a company working for the Republican Party of Virginia was arrested charged with destroying voter registration forms? Isn't that more serious and bigger problem than someone saying something mean on cable tv?

Why bother to comment, everybody knows the Chronicle is a so call conservative newspaper---which feeds its flock so they want be able to read the truth. The owners love government when they are receiving all the entitlements but hate it if others get a few dollars.

the biggest difference

is that Conservatives mock and deride based on policy, position and platform. Liberals go for the gonads and make it personal, slanderous and obscene.

Even Romney's kid wanting to "take a swing" doesn't begin to compare with the poisonous, vile filth and death threats being flung at his father. I would have liked to take a poke at Obamessiah myself several times over some the last four years because of the outrageous destruction and morally bankrupt things he's done to us all. Some of his destruction of our nation may not ever be corrected. He deserves a whole lot worse than mockery and the tongue lashings he is getting.

Just don't forget, TP (9:am)

That the group, the current quite large majority, btw, for which you find so much material for making fun is also the group footing the bill for an ever increasing minority to spend their lives on the government dole generation after generation.

And virtually all of the increasing minority vote Democrat, if they vote at all. Fortunately, an amazing number don't seem to realize (yet) the power they have to vote all of our money into their welfare checks and EBT card accounts. The polls would be over-run if they did.
