Buying an election with your money

Scheme involving Lockheed martin marks a new political low

  • Follow Editorials

We don’t mince words here, and we won’t now: The Obama administration is trying to buy this election.

Defense contractors are obliged under federal law to send out notices of possible layoffs to their employees within 60 days of potential layoffs – in this case, in the face of massive impending cuts to federal defense spending at the end of the year.

But because Lockheed Martin’s layoff notices to 123,000 workers would come just days before the November election, the Obama administration has been working hard to avoid the unpleasantness. And it appears to have found a way.

A very dubious, likely illegal way.

The administration has asked Lockheed Martin to ignore the federal law and not send out the layoff notices before the election. Moreover, the administration has offered to use taxpayer money to hold Lockheed Martin harmless if there are
financial repercussions from violating the law.

Have you ever? Has a presidential administration ever more blatantly and publicly and shamelessly encouraged lawlessness – or for more transparent political gain?

Many of the workers who would get notices, you see, live in Virginia – a very key swing state in this election.

So, yes: The Obama administration is trying to use your money to purchase Virginia’s support in November.

Even if defense contractor employees fall for that ruse and help get Mr. Obama re-elected, what might their future look like under a second Obama term? Do they think this president is bullish on defense? Do they think a commander in chief who watched on as the defense industry was pushed to this brink will be its champion when he has no more elections to curry favor for?

Ignoring laws is nothing new for this administration. It also unilaterally decided not to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, and to extend amnesty to certain illegal aliens even though Congress has expressly decided not to do so.

But encouraging others to ignore the law is a new low.

Look for more of the same extra-constitutional imperiousness should the gambit in Virgina bear fruit.

Tech, you are way off

Tech, you are way off balance. Jesus was love AND truth/boundaries, not love OR truth/boundaries. The needy He spoke of being cared for were the widows and orphans, not grown able bodied men and women. His WORD says, you don't work, you don't eat. You are entitled to your political beliefs, but don't use false doctrine to promote it.

truth/boundries

hummmm... truth is for the enlightened GROWTH. It does not bind. The 'shall not's' of the old testament were replaced with the 'shall do's' of our Lord's message. (do unto others) You will not find ONE 'NOT' in the four gospel's. Only DO's.

Is that why Obama wants to

Is that why Obama wants to fundamentally change the Constitution? It states too many things the Federal government cannot do and not enough it has the mandate to do.

"If you harm one of these

"If you harm one of these innocent ones who believes in me it would be better for a milstone to be hung about your neck and you were cast into the sea". Sounds sorta like a don't to me! "Truely I say to you not on jot or title of the law.." "He who is guilty of part of the law is quilty of all of the law" Seems like it would be better to try to follow th law HUH? "What God has joined together let not man seperate". Seems to be saying divorce isn't to good an idea. "But he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation". Is it just me or is that pretty harsh and something that shouldn't be done?

Our definition of LOVE and

Our definition of LOVE and God's differs greatly. If I were to sum up this country's REAL issue in one word, it would be neither Democrat nor Republican, but UNFAITHFULNESS.

But on ward and up ward,

But on ward and up ward, What gives Obama the right to take tax payers dollars and cover the legal liabilities of the criminal actions of the contractors? Obama is not just covering fines but he seems to want to cover the judgements of law suits brought by workers not notified. This could run into hundreds of thousands of dollars!

Of course Obama feels he can
Unpublished

Of course Obama feels he can break our laws, the only law he wants for the United States is sharia law. They started bragging how the flag of islam will fly over Washington about the same time Obama was elected. There is a reason for that.
