Unplanned? Unlikely

Obama camp's explanation of Libya attack increasingly suspicious

  • Follow Editorials

More than one observer has noted how sad a day it is when the head of Libya appears more believable than the American White House.

The Obama administration this weekend was insisting that the assault on the U.S. consulate in Libya that killed an American ambassador and three others was nothing more than a spontaneous mob lashing out at a YouTube video about the prophet Muhammad.

Right. This spontaneous protest came complete with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades – and the heavily armed mob just happened to storm the consulate simultaneously from three directions, a la a military assault.

Sorry, but the more details that emerge, the more the White House’s story smells like a fish market.

Also calling into question the administration’s “spontaneous” theory is this from CNN: “Three days before the deadly assault on the United States consulate in Libya, a local security official says he met with American diplomats in the city and warned them about deteriorating security.”

And Libyan President Mohammed el-Megarif flatly declared, “The idea that this criminal and cowardly act was a spontaneous protest that just spun out of control is completely unfounded and preposterous.”

It’s possible they’re both partially right – that there were organic protests about the anti-Muhammad video, but that al-Qaida or other organized terrorists used the cover of the protests to attack – on the anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, no less. But if so, that too would debunk the Obama administration’s stated claims of a wholly unplanned blitzkrieg.

If the administration is indeed whitewashing what it knows about the Libyan assault and murders, then it is dishonoring the memories of the dead, while failing to learn from what appear to be obvious catastrophic failures in intelligence and security.

Even if the administration were correct, it was still caught with its guard down – in a very dangerous, unstable country. And on Sept. 11.

It will be fascinating to see to what extent the “mainstream” media give the administration a pass on all this. Can you imagine the media firestorm had this sort of fatal miscalculation happened on George W. Bush’s watch? It would’ve been labeled a foreign policy “Katrina.”

The Libyan president argues that the attack bears the imprint of al-Qaida. You have to wonder if the Obama administration is overlooking that possibility as dismissively as it did the warnings beforehand.

I purposely left off beck, savage, oriley, boortz and the Augusta Chronicle because they do seem to believe in what say. Sean and Rush on the other hand are carpetbaggers of the lowest form in my book, they do it for THEMSELVES ! as to msnbc, I think they believe in what they are reporting for the most part, though some of their people are in it to hawk themselves and their books. Point is, one should be aware of the motivations involved and not be the media lap dog they suggest by taking them at their word all the time.

You have to wonder what it would ultimately take for the left to see the truth. Obama's allegiance is not towards America.

‘To see what is in front of one’s nose,” George Orwell wrote, “needs a constant struggle.” Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice is losing the struggle —

Since Susan Rice appeared on all the morning programs Sunday like a good little stooge, the Obama administration is in a difficult situation. They will hold firm to "movie" as the cause ..they have little choice.

Bain Capitol is the reason for all of your problems. My sister-in-law ( a retired real estate agent and wife of a retired superior court judge) has bought 2 homes in the last 10 years with no money down, 3 cars in the past 2 years with major negative equity, borrowed money for separate trips to London, Paris, Minneapolis, Dallas- Ft. Worth, monthly trips to St. Simons, purchased expensive gifts for all of her bridge club members and now is in financial straits. Whose fault is it? The conservatives, naturally. I love my family but sometimes logic and common sense are rarities. I believe in helping those who need help but not those who believe they are ENTITLED to my HARD-EARNED MONEY. GET A JOB. obama has told you that conservative "whitey" is going to take care of you but you've been "FREE" for 48 years. GET A JOB.

Trying using a little common sense. Of course I realize 1500 are enough to destroy the world, far less would do that. My point is that Obama has signed agreements with other Countries to reduce the worlds Nuclear arsenal, yet WE are the only ones reducing our numbers. They sign the agreement and then do NOTHING. We signed and massively reduce our Nuclear arsenal. Answer me this question without political bias, does that make us stronger in the world or weaker?

If the flag was made in China, its because our GOVERMENT has placed so many regulations on businesses here it would cost them 10 times more to make it. So the production is outsourced to China thanks to OUR GOVERNMENT. REDUCE the regulation and you will bring back manufacturing to America!!! Why is it they won't do this??? Maybe because they WANT America to become weaker and communism to become stronger. George Soros stated "America is the only thing standing in the way of a one world order." He and his minions (Obama) are doing everything they can to take America out of the way, PERIOD!!

My friends, you both have it right. Obama is NOT for America in any sense. He is in the same boat as George Soros and thats a fact. His actions speak louder than his meaningless words.

In Revelations 2:9 and 3:9 the two Churches God found no fault in, are mentioned. These two had one thing in common and you should have the same thing in common with them. They knew those that CLAIM to be of our brother Judah, but are not and are of the synagogue of Satan. God's is warning us about those claiming to be Christian but are NOT. He warns in Mark 13 that MANY shall come in my name, claiming to be Christian but are NOT. Does this sound anything like Obama??? He sat in the good Rev. Wright's Church for 20 years but didn't know how radical he is. Hhhhhmmmmm, smells fishy to me. Obama will do his part in destroying America, propehcy tells us this. He will assist our enemies in attacking Israel, because it is written.

But rest well my friends, there is ONE still in charge and He has promised us the ultimate victory. They shall win many battles here in these ends times and that is hard to stomach, but God's promise is coming very soon. When they attack America, they are attacking God. He will allow people to use their free will to choose their side, therefore he can hold them completely responsible for their OWN CHOICE!!America is the Israeli people and Israel is America. The enemy WILL NOT prevail!!

Yes Myfather15

So why do you think I also say many times, "BE Prepared".

Just read today's AC US & World:

Panetta: violence leveling off; protests to go on
U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, right, speaks to the media aboard his aircraft on way to an official visit to Japan, China and New Zealand, Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. (AP Photo/Larry Downing, Pool)

U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says the turmoil raging across the Muslim world is likely to continue into the days ahead, but he says the violence expected by the U.S. appears to be leveling off.

Military: Afghan inside attack kills 4 US troops
An Afghan police officer turned his gun on NATO troops at a remote checkpoint in southern Afghanistan before dawn Sunday, killing four American service members, according to Afghan and international officials.

Iran commander warns Israel, US against attack
The top commander in Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard warned Sunday that his country's missiles will ensure "nothing will remain" of Israel if it takes military action against Tehran over its controversial nuclear program

If you can't see the very bold handwriting on the wall, you have to be one of those blind, dumb, one celled Liberals and King SMNCICBHO worshippers.

you wrote: " Further if this idiotic movie did precipitate the violence are we to be apologetic for the fact we have freedom of speech and freedoms in general?"

The US Supreme Court has been very clear that freedom of speech is not absolute and indeed there are limits to that freedom.

Let us suppose that I said something very ugly about your mother for all the world to see. (not that I would ever do something so crass, disrepectful and incendiary.) Basically I would be challenging you to defend your mother in the most emphatic way. Now your reaction, most likely a physical assault might very well go unprosecuted because of a legal concept known generically as "fighting words". So no matter how bad a beating you gave me for calling your mother a string of ugly names insinuating loose morals and as someone who practices perverted acts, your reaction and resulting assault on my person could go very well go unprosecuted. Now suppose I produced a film in the Middle East about the life of Jesus and someone translated that film and narrated it into English where Jesus Christ was labeled as someone who had sexual relations with animals and other men. How would you as a Christian react to that? Suppose you had sworn to uphold the honor of Christ at all costs. Would you not strike out at the entity that provided shelter and protection under the guise of say, free speech? Of course you would. But in this country, if we couldn't deliver a beat down we would take the offending party to civil court for infliction of emotional pain and slander. And as I said I would never insult anyone's mother. My example was merely meant to be illustrative of the concept of unprotected speech.

The version of the film trailer that was available in the Farsi language did indeed refer to the Muslim prohet in the most derogatory terms meant to incite the reaction that resulted. And for that, someone will be held accountable under the criminal and or civil code of state and federal laws.

Just today the courts have deemed the offending youtube video as not protected and have sought to limit it's distribution through whatever channels. And rightfully so.

We cannot continue to insult people's religious figures and expect to get away with it. We are dealing with a people that take the defense of their religion in the most serious terms. There are voices of moderation among the more secular portions of the Middle East that do not see all Americans as the enemy. I have met many of them. But the more ethnocentric elements within our population are doing their worst to bring this cultural divide to a conflagration none of us will escape.

Hypocrisy of the media...

...If "Our Dear Leader" was a Republican there would be media investigations, calls for Congress to investigate and more heat brought to bear than anything since Watergate, concerning this colossal "dropping of the ball" as relates to the assassination of our Ambassador...but because Barack Hussein Obama is the darling of the left and in particular the media...there is more questioning of Mitt Romney's statements than there ever will be of the inept and indifferent attitude of our "Ruler in Chief."

Bantana- Freedom of speech

Bantana- Freedom of speech cannot be curtailed because someone might find it offensive. Two things come to mind, a there was an art exhibit in new York with a piece of art Entitled (the slang word for urination) Christ, it had a Crucifix in a jar of urine. National Endowment for the arts , that would be those that pay taxes, money went to this exhibit. How many buildings were bombed, how many people killed etc..Uh that would be NONE, despite the fact that it is deeply offense to see images of our Lord and Savior treated this way. As Christians though we realize God can look after himself, it is not my job. The other exhibit displayed was an icon of The Virgin Mary covered in Elephant Dung. Again, how many riots, how many people killed etc..Why NONE despite the fact that these images are offensive. Now where was all this hand wringing then?
My second point, that I stated a few days ago, was that when I was in Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield/Desert Storm Margo Fonteyn, a British Ballerina and dancer died . She had appeared with a great Russian Dancer named Rudolph Nureyev. There was a picture of Fonteyn posing in a Tutu in leotards in Time Magazine bent at the waist with very little cleavage showing. The religious police found her legs and cleavage offensive and blacked it out with a magic marker. Liquor ads were torn out of magazines. You cannot live your life and curtail your freedoms because you might offend some 6th century idiots because of your freedom. If you live in a free society you are going to be offended. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “Those that would give up a little freedom for a little security deserve neither”. Muslims find the Bible offensive, and it is not allowed in Saudi Arabia, should we ban that to please Muslims? Muslims find the beach wear women have on in western society’s offensive, do we ban bikinis? Muslims find alcohol offensive and don’t allow it in Saudi Arabia, do we close the Bars and close the distilleries? Muslims find Pigs offensive do we close the barbeque joints to please them? Where does this end. If I think Mohammed should be put in a bottle of urine should I be allowed because crucifixes are put in urine or do we only allow certain forms of speech?

Thank You, and you are

Thank You, and you are welcome. Obama the appeaser in chief is really facing two issues. In the final analysis these riots in Egypt and the killing of our Ambassador are going to come down to two things. The killing of our Ambassador is retaliation for the death of Ben Laden and the #2 or #3 Al Qaeda leader from Libya. The Riots in Egypt are an opening salvo to get the blind sheik who masterminded the first World Trade Center attack sent back to Egypt. He is closely related to some of the people pulling strings in Egypt. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/07/03/outrage-builds-as-egypt-press... An attack on a U.S. embassy.

The president of Libya says that this attack was planned for two months. I expected something to happen on 9/11 and was sorely disappointed that the media is choosing to try to deflect attention from the coordinated attack and significance of the date the attack happened by blaming it on a ridiculously and shabby amateur video that first came out in JUNE! Any thinking person knows there is just as bad and worse out there in media that is hateful and violent toward Christianity and other non-Muslim religions. It has been like that since before the Crusades! Do we go around storming other countries' embassies and murdering ambassadors over the hate speech in print and media from Muslims? NO, we don't. There is NO justification what they have done. I don't buy into blaming a video or its director, amateur or NOT. If so, what exactly am I supposed to think will happen if the highly anticipated new, high cost movie that is going to describe as much as possible about how Osama bin Laden was killed and who is taking credit for it? (Hint: "who" is Obama) Is all Hades going to break loose or is this new movie going to be spun as positive propoganda for Obama and not another excuse to be blamed for violence or worse such as the amateur and lame-brained director's stupid, hateful, 15 minute, low-budget video? In my opinion the 9/11/2012 attack on the embassy and the violent death of our ambassador and others Americans as a coordinated, planned terrorist attack. As for what to do about it? I don't know; but it seems like if there is anything that needs to be done, SOMETHING needs to be done about the 20,000 or more people murdered in Syria!

My point is simply that if

My point is simply that if you slander Mohammed or the Muslim faith you may very well put your life and those within reach of religious zealots in peril. I don't defend that reaction, I merely point out that it is fact and I do indeed find it reprehensible and reactionary. Just because most of our speech and artistic expression is protected doesn't make the exceptions smart or right. I urge all of you that are insulted or offended by some written or spoken words and artistic expression to state your objections in a reasonable manner becoming of a citizenery that values individual freedom. As hard as I try to do the same, there are times that I fail at that, but I would never react in a way that would cause any physical or emotional harm. I will say that I am most offended by religious intolerance, closet racism and jingoistic speech and sloganeering. And to be clear, I am a practicing Christian that is not in the least offended by a crucifix immersed in urine. There are so many other more important issues to get involved with.

~peace to you all

But that's what one expects from a polarized news source whose interest is NOT the whole community, just the select few.

Or, would you rather we cover our ears and go Lalala Mitt didn't say that?
