Vote for your future -- Scott Peebles

As sheriff, Scott Peebles would continue powerful leadership

Primaries. Runoffs. Republican, Democrat and nonpartisan ballots. It can all look complicated and intimidating.

But Tuesday’s runoff election in Richmond County is actually quite simple.

If you voted in either party’s primary July 31, you must stick with that party on Tuesday. But if you either chose a “nonpartisan” ballot or didn’t even vote at all, you can vote Tuesday on either party’s ballot.

And if you can, we urge you to vote on the Democrat ballot – for the sole and overriding purpose of nominating Capt. Scott Peebles for sheriff.

As quiet and unassuming as an August election can appear, we thoroughly believe Tuesday’s runoff race for sheriff is one of, if not the, most important races here in the past decade.

The reasons are also quite simple:

• With a largely ceremonial mayor and a diffuse 10-member Augusta Commission, the Richmond County sheriff may be the most powerful single individual

in the area. Unlike his elected colleagues on boards and commissions, all of his department’s
powers are concentrated in one office.

• Those powers are immense and impactful, too. The sheriff’s office is charged with keeping the peace – which is the No. 1 most important factor in creating the kind of community we want in order to not only survive but thrive.

In many ways, even while working in the background like a powerful computer program you never see, the sheriff’s office sets the tone for life in this city.

• The most important reason to vote in the Democratic runoff Tuesday is because Capt. Peebles towers over the competition.

He simply must win this thing. For our sakes.

A 20-year veteran of the department, since the age of 19, Peebles has been an integral part of the violent crimes and homicide
division, road patrol, the DUI task force, crime suppression team, SWAT team and the hostage
negotiation team, which he
actually started. He’s directed major sting projects “Operation Augusta Ink,” “Operation Fox Hunt” and “Operation Smoke Screen,” which took hundreds of thugs and guns off the streets of this town.

His training and organizational skills are unsurpassed in the department, his civic involvement staggering. His vision for the future, which includes intense neighborhood-to-neighborhood “community policing,” promises a professional and engaged force for years to come under his young, energetic leadership.

As we suggested in endorsing him before the primary, it’s hard to imagine anyone improving on the Richmond County Sheriff Office’s performance under retiring Ronnie Strength’s solid leadership.

We’re here to tell you that Capt. Scott Peebles is the only one in this race with that chance.

Even if you voted for him
July 31, this is no time to be
complacent. There is far too much at stake in this race.

On Tuesday, please come out again, or for the first time, and vote on the Democrat ballot for Scott Peebles.

As simple as it is, it may be the most important thing you do this year for your family and community.

rule of law in Richmond

rule of law in Richmond County is fractured. One man cannot fix this whole mess. dozens can (if about a dozen elected/appointed are voted out/fired), but the will isn't there. the veneer of normality in Augusta will be peeled off as the downward economy strips away civility.

Chief Freddie Sanders is the Honest Candidate

Omnomnom is right. I’m tired of unctuous, sycophantic, oily candidates pandering to the racial vote. If you voted once as a Democrat, stay home this time. Both Democratic candidates have that same Chicago politics like baggage. The authentic Republican Chief Freddie Sanders needs all our support. Vote for Chief Sanders in November. Help lead the Tea Party to victory and kick out every Democrat in November in every race from President to Sheriff.

Vote Peebles on Tuesday

Captain Scott Peebles is by far the best choice as the top law enforcement officer, politics aside. No matter you party affiliation, you want the person that is most prepared to lead the agency into the future and wants to make it one of the top agencies in the nation starting with national accreditation. Captain Peebles is the best choice and he needs our help and support in this runoff - Vote Peebles on Tuesday, 8/21 for our future.

Best Strategy is Roundtree v. Chief Sanders

Some of you follow my comments and know I'm usually pretty close to the truth. Let me give you my motive behind saying don't vote for the Peebles-Nicholson-Blanchard trio. Chief Sanders has a much better chance of defeating Roundtree in November is the truth of the matter. If we are going to turn out Tea Party voters in record numbers, it would be best to have a clear choice. The Peebles-Nicholson-Blanchard trio has lots of money and connections. Support Chief Freddie Sanders by not voting for a Democrat Tuesday.

I think we will see a huge

I think we will see a huge number of Peebles votes by Republicans on Tuesday and again in November. The primary should have made it clear - voters want Peebles as sheriff..not the alternative.

JRC, Sam Nicholson is

JRC, Sam Nicholson is Peebles' official campaign manager. Lewis Blanchard, the one who ran against Clay Whittle, is a big contributor. Those are the two people Peebles thanked at his party after the primary. Check the connections of those two. When I specifically lay it out, my comments are removed so I leave it to the readers to find the connections.

I believe that most people in

I believe that most people in the area want the best man for the job. What is wrong with that. Is it to the point now that certain folks are not allowed to vote their choice.

Peebs then Sanders I have a

Peebs then Sanders

I have a vote Tuesday in the Demo side. I will caste it for Scott Peebles. Maybe I see him as the lesser of.....you know. Then come November, the race is one on one, man to man. I will vote for Freddie because of his independence, financial stability, maturity, and absence of ties to the Cabul. Hopefully, he will tap Peebles on the shoulder and say "Ok young man, show me what you would have done if you were elected!" Then Freddie will weigh the cost vs benefit, throw out some ideas and keep others, and make improvements.

Roundtree?......Would be a Train Wreck for this town. No ifs, ands or buts. Lacking in self discipline, ability to be unbiased, responsibility, and scares the hell out of me to think of his tenure as Sheriff.

Scott Pebbles is trying to do

Scott Pebbles is trying to do exactly what they did with George W. Bush - convince people that he's someone you'd like to have a beer with, and then ram though a far - right agenda that screws the Black community.
