Bottom line

Whenever there’s a whiff of a chance for America’s chronically liberal media to imply that violent crime is spurred by conservative values, reporters seemingly fall all over one another to file stories.

But when the shoe’s on the other foot – the left foot – all of a sudden the media isn’t nearly as interested.

So it was this past week when a gunman barged into the Washington, D.C., offices of the conservative Family Research Council. Floyd Corkins is accused of shooting a security guard in the arm to express his anger over the FRC’s Christian values and policy positions.

Corkins is a volunteer for a gay-rights advocacy group, but media were loath to draw any conclusions about the suspect’s left-leaning politics.

But why were media outlets so eager to peg the recent Aurora, Colo., theater shooter as a right-winger – until that
assertion turned out to be utterly false?

These kinds of public shootings are spawned from a repulsive climate of hatred – and although many liberals wish otherwise, that hatred isn’t the exclusive province of a particular political ideology.

Just report the facts.

Stories about Corkin's

Stories about Corkin's beliefs are included in stories on ABC, NBC, and CBS. What other media is the AC talking about? As to media outlet (one, not outlets) and James Holmes, Brian Ross on ABC jumped the gun by assuming the name he found on Facebook was the shooter. He apologized for the error. It wasn't some vast left wing conspiracy, as the AC falsely deduces, but a mistake made by one reporter due to the push to always be first with a story and not waiting until all of the facts were in.

Techfan has a point. Note that even the very liberal Huffington Post reported thoroughly about the shooter's left-wing beliefs. Once again, the ACES is simply mistaken about the basic facts.

Valid Editorial

I noticed the same thing. There was slight air time with an attack that was completely politically motivated. No if's and's or but's.

The NBC News Entire Report

On NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams gave the story just 17 seconds: “In Washington today, police say a man with a gun walked into the offices of the conservative lobbying group the Family Research Council, and opened fire. He never made it past the lobby. He shot a security guard in the arm before the guard was able to subdue him.”

Yes, there was bare mention of Corkin's affiliation with a liberal group. What was missing was the feigned incredulous outrage they seem to have when they think they've got themselves another gun toting whacked out conservative.

we now know that the Shiekh religion is the fifth largest in the world. It is a blend of Muslim and Hindu. Their beliefs are all encompassing. All are peace loving, but the males all carry a knife or curved cutting instrument. (this answers the mystery of why the lead guru attempted to kill the shooter with a knife during prayers) And they do not cut their hair. Welcome to America's latest minority and diverse strength.

After I heard about the shooting on CNN I had to then go on-line to see where and why. Days later there is still no mention on newscasts. Nothing like all the coverage this type of lunacy usually creates.

Really?

If you guys are so determined to be victims that you're willing to twist, squirm, and distort to make your point, so be it. Yes, the initial MSM reports were brief b/c the facts weren't out yet. However, ABC and the other networks all filed extensive follow-up stories on Aug. 15 with all the details on various broadcast programs and on the web. The Washington Post's liberal columnist Dana Milbank wrote a blistering editorial attacking people who called the FRC a hate group. And so forth. The claim that the MSM ignored this or downplayed it is simply not accurate.

all relative to where you begin !

having access to many conservative boards I can attest to the 'loathing' of the many that find our current President a charlatan. Their animosity towards the man is palpable. They only regurgitate what they and their ilk WANT to hear, putting aside any reasoned critic of the information being espoused. Of course vote for the candidate of your 'choice'..., but for rational reason's, not emotional hyperbole that fills the 'media' storm.

"They only regurgitate what they and their ilk WANT to hear, putting aside any reasoned critic of the information being espoused."

You are right....all I want to hear is how he hasn't closed GITMO, isn't posting bills for the public to read, ordered the murder of a US citizen without due process, started another war, refuses to enforce federal laws if he doesn't like them, that he promised to cut the deficit in half and nearly trippled it instead.....the list goes on.

Yeah...that's what we want to hear.....never mind that it's all true. The dislike for Obama must be because we are all racists.

While the incident is tragic- only one person was killed, so it's not going to get wall to wall coverage. And only one person falsely accused of Aurora shooter of being part of the Tea Party, and no one else believed him, or double down on the guy's wrong reporting.

Want to read an article that will upset everyone here with a positive number of thumbs up?

It's titled: Right-wing extremist terrorism as deadly a threat as al Qaeda?

EDIT: You can aslo google the DHS rightwing extremism report.

Hate Groups

It's not just the media that vilifies anyone with a right wing bias - the government does it too. A person who is strongly against something like abortion, and is very vocal in his or her beliefs, runs the risk of being identified by the FBI and other law enforcement as a potential terrorist.

Better watch out if you publicly espouse views such as "They can have my gun when they pry it from my cold dead hands"; you may just end up cold and dead.

"I wonder how many liberals actually believe what the media is implying....the lie that Romney refuses to release his tax returns."

I'm not liberal- but Romney has only released one years worth. He won't release another year until October, when the most recent year is will be completed. So he has released a tax return, not returns, not yet!

But he should. He is telling us he wants a job because he/is a successful businessman- so it's only fair to look at his finances to see how he got there. I handed over more tax returns to purchase a house...

He gave a bunch to McCain when he wanted to be VP. He got a bunch from Ryan, and probably others. He demanded it from what his face when he was running for the Senate...

I think he won't do it now because he took part in the IRS amnesty program for undisclosed foreign accounts, meaning he has been a tax cheat. But that's my theory.

If he has nothing to hide- he should release them, and get Reid to resign for lying on the senate floor.
