A new genre of fiction

MSNBC now stoops to making up news items to push its ideological agenda

  • Follow Editorials

How cynical, dishonest and unethical do you have to be to get a job at MSNBC?

Or to lose one there?

The discredited and scarcely watched left-wing cable network not long ago had to fire three employees for selectively editing a 9-1-1 call to make George Zimmerman look like a blatant racist. Trayvon Martin’s shooter had been asked by a dispatcher what Martin looked like. Zimmerman said Martin looked black. But MSNBC purposely edited out the dispatcher’s question – to make it appear as if Zimmerman mentioned Martin’s race out of nowhere. They moved Zimmerman’s words around to make him say, “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.”

Pure and simple, it was a hit job by MSNBC, which bills itself as a news network.

Now, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell has cynically, unethically and dishonestly used an edited tape to try to make presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney look silly.

In Mitchell’s version, Romney tells a Pennsylvania crowd how amazing it was for him to order a sandwich off a touchscreen device. The MSNBC folks yucked it up pretty good over how out-of-touch they made Romney look.

But the truth is, Romney was using the story as an example of how competition in the private sector leads to such innovations – an amazing difference, he noted, from government’s plodding ways. It’s a perfectly legitimate and important point, and
certainly nothing to make fun of.

In short, now the supposedly respectable media are making things up to denigrate conservatives and Republicans.

It’s not even the second time the network has done this. During the Republican primary campaign last year, Texas Gov. Rick Perry referred to the national debt as a big black cloud that hangs over America. MSNBC’s Ed Schultz tried to tell his viewers that Perry was talking about Obama being a “big black cloud.”

When is this flat-out lying by a “news” network ever going to stop?

Techfan,is the private sector just fine? Do you know any 16 to 30 year olds that are unemployed? I'll bet they were happy to have a million more previously uneligable workers join the pool competing for jobs!

I thought for sure you would

I thought for sure you would praise hussein for adding 1+ million law-breakers to the government dole! Paying out more entitlements will boost our economy? I know, the government can tax the rich at 99% to pay these new voters their entitlements-at least until election time.

You want to pick fruit and vegetables for next to nothing? Helps our economy. More people going to school and becoming educated? Helps our economy. More people working and paying taxes? Helps our economy. People who are already here? They're already in the economy, get over it. Unless you are 100% Native American (I know I'm not), we don't have any room to complain.

MSNBC, the fringe network for the fringe president. Whoever thought we would have a president denigrating mainstream America while trying to marshal various malcontents to keep his regime in tact?

If I didn't already know, I realized MSNBC had lost it last night when the news of Eric Holder's contempt charges broke and Al Sharpton displayed literature of the Aryan Nation with their hate symbols, while saying there is much racism in this country. I have yet to see any defense of Holder except Congress is disrepecting him as they catch him in one lie after another.

Get over adding 1+ million

Get over adding 1+ million more unemployed persons to the list of people that will apply for and recieve government assistance? Get over the pres. deciding he doesn't like the fairness of our constitution and makes his own laws? If there are no jobs for legal citizens, how does adding a million more people seeking these nonexistant jobs create jobs? How does having 5 people, instead of 4, seeking the same job help our economy?

Other than they have turned

Other than they have turned over thousands of pages and Issa is just a partisan hack out for blood. In his "investigations, he has the outcome decided beforehand. He refuses to allow testimony that doesn't follow his predetermined outcome, even going as far as shutting down his own witnesses when they start giving truthful testimony that doesn't follow his talking points. He's a criminal who uses his position for political and financial gain, not for actual investigation of wrongdoing.

You need to get that keyboard

You need to get that keyboard checked out, it's repeating your posts. Working people and people who are getting educated. Definitely a drain on the country. We need more uneducated people. That's the ticket. Here's a list of executive orders so you can complain about them since FDR: http://www.archives.gov/federal-register/executive-orders/disposition.html

Techfan- It would be great if

Techfan- It would be great if the 1+ million illegal aliens that Obama wants to keep in America ONLY competed for jobs but they are clogging the education system (California spends over 7 billion dollars a year educating illegal alien 's children http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2004/dec/06/20041206-102115-6766r/ ) , now US citizens are going to complete with illegal alien children for college space and dollars. I still wonder how implementing this is going to work. Many of the illegal aliens are highly mobile following ripening crops from state to state etc. What documentation is going to be needed etc. and how will the documentation be vetted? Oh well Obama is king of the Universe, he promised the oceans would recede and the earth heal when he was elected!!!! I’ll bet this is going to turn out like Obama’s student loan initiative. Of course the lame stream lying distorting media will never report on it. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/college_cop_out_h79h...

Of course there are several

Of course there are several types of lying and promulgation of falsehoods. One of these forms of prevarication is withholding information. The Obama biography by David Maraniss “Barack Obama, The Story” reveals that many of the “racially” charged stories in Obama’s memoirs are false. Now why didn’t the American press investigate and question Obama and his book? The story that Obama lived with his father until he was two is false. The story of Obama’s grandfather being tortured by the British is false, the story of Obama’s mother being chastised for being polite to Blacks and playing with black children is false. Obama not being able to date rich haole (white girls) in Hawaii is false, Obama’s story about not playing basketball because he played “black ball” was false. The list goes on and on. The Maraniss is upset because he did not set out to “fact check” Obama’s memoirs but it appears that he is the only author or journalist to do it! Now where is the lame stream media?

There are far too many

There are far too many unanswered questions regarding the illegal kids. Obama is giving them 2 years. Then what?
Where do they live while they are job searching? What happens if they never find work? Can we continue to raise the welfare rolls to support so many more or will they wither and die? This act hurts those among us who are most in need..
All for the sake of votes to keep a job that he is not equipped for and never has been.

Good questions, but

"There are far too many unanswered questions regarding the illegal kids. Obama is giving them 2 years. Then what?" The Prez doesn't care about that. To your point, the election will be over.

MSNBC regularly shocks fair minded folks with thier biased editing and over the top commentary. Thier ratings speak volumes and still they persist in driving the canoe toward the waterfall. Can't wait for them to ask for grants to stay on the air in the name of fairness.

Security leak coverup. Fast

Security leak coverup. Fast and Furious coverup. First time unemployment just UP...again. Economic forecast just revised DOWN...again. Health insurance rates way UP. Borrowing limit maxed out and will have to be raised UP....again. Tax rates for everyone fixing to go UP in January. No budget in 3 years. The "Arab Spring" has turned into the Muslim Brotherhood Spring and Obama's middle east policies didn't exactly work out too well. Israel no longer trusts us to be an ally and be able to keep classified information secret. Most of the money Obama wasted on "green energy" has gone up in a puff of smoke and bankrupt companies.

And the worst effects of Obama and the Democrats are yet to come....whether he gets another term or not. The inflation and high interest rates are coming down the road. It may be a few years but be assured that we will pay for all of this borrowing and outright printing of worthless money.

No wonder MSNBC is putting all of it's efforts into hack editing a film clip to try to make Romney look foolish. They sure can't do real news about Obama's record.

Prez got problems

I like the Mornin’ Joe too, but I think Mika is too timid and seems to speak with her eyes and gestures. The problem with Holder and Fast and Furious is they provided a letter filled with falsehoods they stood by for months (till it became obvious) and then recanted. Either this is willful misinformation or incompetence. Then the president calls for executive privilege at a time his integrity is in question over WH leaks (what an idiot! because now he has linked his office to Fast). Mr. Transparency Obama should want to be beyond reproach at this time of an election cycle (and his administration) and his elusive behavior could be perceived as a cover up and push independents to question his integrity. Now the blood thirsty Dems spent the last two years of Bush’s lame duck presidency investigating everyone and outing his Attorney General, as a political strategy the Rep should do the same-you can bet the Dems would already have impeachment proceedings by now if the shoe were on the other foot. But all this politics makes me sick. When standing presidents are driven by competition to leak secrets for political gains we are on the wrong track-it is an arms race of nastiness. All the news outlets are propaganda machines and you are more likely to do better on the internet. By the time you watch MSNBC and then Fox your head is spinning-get it-spinning. How punny. From his State of the Union or election stunt speeches we find falsehoods from fact finders-it seems implausible he would continue the lies.

Biz, I fully agree. The

Biz, I fully agree. The internet gives us access to the primary source documents that the news networks used to report seemingly honestly. Now that we can see the actual source of this info they're reporting, we can see who's distorting what, and how frequently. To me, taking the major news outlets at face value is like believing a manufacturer's ad rather than doing your own research about a product. Great if you're lazy, and if quality and accuracy really aren't important to you, but more often than not you're left with a worthless pile of rubbish.

And it's politically

And it's politically convenient to single out MSNBC here, but anyone with half a brain and a little bit of initiative can find clear evidence that they aren't the only major player with a serious aversion to agenda-less honesty.

To Techfan

Thanks for the TWO Fox clips. I am a moderate conservative and not a fan of Mr. Obama (the fiscally unaccountable CEO); however, I have to agree that the TV news networks are ALL guilty of distorting reality.

Sometimes, a simple blue URL speaks more powerfully than the ravings of "hussein haters" and diehard blogsters who frequently drift from the thesis content of editorials.

Even though you and I have polar political views, I often find your URL postings very interesting. Keep it up! I'm willing to listen.

Burninater- I do find Fox far

Burninater- I do find Fox far more accurate than the other media. Everybody but Fox ignored Climate gate, Every Body but Fox has ignored fast and Furious (despite the fact that the guns smuggled during Fast and Furious killed Brian Terry and another INS agent and over two hundred Mexican citizens). Holder has had over 18 months and keeps changing his story. (While Democratic Senators were quoting Holder that the former Bush official knew about the program, Holder was backtracking again and saying the Bush official didn't know leaving the Democratic House Committee members looking like idiots). The first letter says the Justice department was not involved, the House committee can't even find who wrote the letter! The House committee can't find out who authorized and ran the program! It is like nobody did anything and one day some low level officials decided to smuggle 2,000 weapons into Mexico. No funding, no oversight, no authority, it just happened like spontaneous combustion, and Holder has changed the story over three times in his testimony!

Carcraft, I do not watch Fox

Carcraft, I do not watch Fox for the same reason I don't watch MSNBC -- there are just too many times they or their talking heads have been caught in outright lies -- and yet I am fully aware of both Climategate and Fast and Furious. I hope you see the impossibility of your assertion that noone else covered these things.
