The Augusta area isn’t finished crowning golf champs.

This weekend, The Hippodrome in North Augusta, S.C., is hosting the sixth annual National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships – an event we’re proud our own Pete May conceived. It has grown immensely in size and reputation, and now includes 40 teams from the entire nation, including many of the most famous and prestigious universities in America.

The tournament, already under way, will include the Savannah River Spring Fling on Saturday and Sunday, with food, music and other family-oriented activities. Admission includes both events.

Be not fooled: This is a serious, exciting sport – and you’ll be amazed at the talent, skill and athleticism of the competitors. Moreover, it’s a sport anyone can pick up.

Again, we are so proud of this homegrown national event, reminiscent of the early years of another local golf tournament. We urge encourage you to give it a whirl.
