The Bottom Line

Welcome to the annual Rachael Cundey Spelling Bee.

Well, it’s actually the Augusta Chronicle area spelling bee. But for the past four years, it’s been Rachael who’s owned it.

For the fourth year in a row, the 13-year-old seventh-grader at Lakeside Middle School won the local qualifying bee Saturday at the Morris Auditorium, and The Chronicle will be sending her on an all-expense-paid trip to the Scripps National Bee in Washington, D.C., May 27-June 1.

Rachael is a veteran now, and a hard worker. She studies spelling words every day, including weekends. Having experienced the fun and excitement of winning the bee, she understands that hard work pays big dividends.

Her family should be indubitably proud – i-n-d-u-b-i-t-a-b-l-y.

And they certainly won’t mind going back to D.C. for another spell.
