Heaping hatred

Liberals' limitless vulgarity gets little reproach within their own camp

  • Follow Editorials

Don Imus was once drummed off a radio network for a reckless and thoughtless slur toward black women at Rutgers.

Nothing of the kind will happen to liberal commentator -- or is it "commonhater"? -- Bill Maher for his outrageous and profane smear of Sarah Palin. He insinuated that she was a "dumb" woman -- but in place of "woman," he used a vulgar word referring to the female anatomy.

Ah, the civility of the left. You can't just disagree with a conservative on the issues. You can't even limit yourself to questioning a conservative's credentials, which would be fair game. Nope. You've got to hurl personal insults and caricature them as knuckle-draggers and empty-headers -- just in case anyone might consider voting for them based on the issues.

And it's apparently OK to use the vilest sexist slander.

Didn't you think, or hope, we were beyond such hatred in this country, particularly of a racist or sexist nature?

How quickly do you think the National Organization for Women came to Palin's defense and expressed its outrage? Well, not very. Remember: Palin is conservative. She's not due the same protections and respect that a pro-abortion liberal woman is.

After initially refusing all comment, NOW tepidly lamented Maher's sexist slam -- though being careful not to mention him by name. At the same time, the organization took a swipe at conservatives.

Not all women's groups were as light on Maher or as blatantly political.

"Bill Maher's misogynistic comment about Sarah Palin hurts all women, not just Palin, and not just conservative women," Yana Walton, vice president of communications for the Women's Media Center, told Fox News -- one of the only major media outlets to report the story. "By insulting her gender, rather than her platform or stance on issues, he insults women as a group."

"If a conservative used that language to describe Hillary Clinton, we wouldn't be hearing very much about Japan or Libya," Fox quoted documentary filmmaker John Ziegler. "If they said it about Michelle Obama, the media would be going 24/7 with the story."

Hateful comments such as Maher's -- sadly pervasive in far-left circles -- degrade American society.

So do audiences who laugh and applaud while watching the degradation right in front of them.

I do not watch fox news sometimes because I do not like how they talk to their guests at times. I change the channel. I suggest you do the same thing for Bill Maher

Once again the bias of the elite press and the left becomes more than obvious! Do as I say not as I do! We have seen it in Wisconsin where The death threats, NAZI comparisons, and union abuses against elected officials is not reported and ignored. WE see it in the left's constant attacks against Haliburton and Chaney but not a peep about the connection between Soros, Brazilian oil and Obama. How many news services have reported a Barzilian oil company, Petrobras was issued permits for deep water drilling in the Gulf while US companies can't get such permits? George Soros is one of Obama's big contributors and holds hugh investments in Petrobras. Mean while US oil industry workers sit around unemployed..Don't forget the democratic party is the party of the little guy if you are a little guy like Soros!

How many of the elite media

How many of the elite media reported on Obama saying he was going to put coal fire power plants out of business if he became president? Well we now have two coal fired power plants in Georgia and the jobs with them going away..Yep EPA is increasing regulations to the point where Georgia Power can't afford to keep the plants open and the jobs they have created! Oh but Obama cares about the workers..as long as they are backed by folks like Trumka!

Double standard for ultra

Double standard for ultra liberal Democrats. Double standard for NOW. Both groups are rapidly becoming irrelevant. Anything goes for liberals when they are demonstrating their self-perceived superior intellect. Maher is just a sarcastic vulgar little troll.

The attacks on Republican

The attacks on Republican women do take a mean spirited slant. Michelle Bachman is another one who is badgered constantly with personal attacks that have absolutely nothing to do with the issues. I read an article today about her in the Daily Beast. It derided anyone for taking her serious, but presented only one instance of her saying something “wrong” and they were wrong on that.

Her speech saying the founding fathers were opposed to slavery has been misrepresented by the liberal media even though she has expertly and accurately defended her assertions. John Adams and other northerners WERE opposed to slavery. There were tense negotiations with the southern delegates. Those from the north fought hard to outlaw the practice from the very start of this country, but gave in to the south for the sake of unity. Their thought was that it could be eliminated at a later time.

Contrast that with the lady liberal pundit on Chris Matthews when he is making fun of Sarah Palin for saying George Washington is her most admired founding father. This lady stupidly asked how Palin could not admire Abraham Lincoln. I believe she missed that by about a century. Matthews didn’t say a word. It was hilarious.

Changing channels and allowing someone to trash another are two different things. Lefties feel entitled to smear, bash and denigrate the right because, in essence, they are yellowback cowards. The naacp and aclu would be in eric holder's bedroom if someone made the same comments about michelle obama or oprah winfrey. lefties, your begging for the things you fear most.

To the Liberal Left, speech

To the Liberal Left, speech is free only if you agree with them. Otherwise, it must be censored. Profanity and vulgarity are OK as long as they are criticizing opposing viewpoints. Hypocrisy and double-standards are the rule of law for the Left.

For starters, I'll voice the obligatory chastening of Bill Maher's colorful description of Sarah Palin: "We should all reject this sort of hateful derogatory sexist speech. There should be no place for it in our social discourse." OK, with that out of the way, I will stop smirking and start laughing out loud. Maher has it just about exactly right about Palin, especially the "dumb" part. And OK, she is "working," but anyone want to bet whether she ever again will collect a government pay check for an elected office? As of today, our gal Sarah couldn't be elected mayor of Wasilla!

conservatives who embrace these editorial biases are lambs being lead to slaughter. Your interest is only in the 'fight' with the so called 'other side', liberals if you wish. A house divided cannot stand and when it falls apart as it will with no intelligent discussions between the parties, your 'belief' in the coming chaos will be actualized. Be careful what you ask for, you may not like what you get!

Maybe the Augusta Chronicle should change their name to the Augusta Cry-nicle, or perhaps rename the OPED section the ACES Whine Line.
Do you know how many times we have heard Limbaugh, Coulter,Beck, even Palin spew hate speech?
I'm sorry, but Palin reaps what she sows. As my father used to say, don't dish it out if you can't take it.

Tech fan- WASHINGTON, March

Tech fan- WASHINGTON, March 18 (UPI) -- Washington has given Petrobras America Inc. permission to start oil and gas production in the Gulf of Mexico, a regulator said.

Read more: http://www.upi.com/Science_News/Resource-Wars/2011/03/18/Petrobras-gets-...
This is from Mar 17th news article "WASHINGTON — The administration's "slow-walking'' of drilling permits in the Gulf of Mexico is costing thousands of jobs and crippling the Gulf region's economy, Gulf Coast officials told Congress Wednesday.

"We continue to feel the burden of regulatory uncertainty, which has led to the freezing of investment and expenditures and consequently a drag on our economy,'' Scott Angelle, secretary of Louisiana's Department of Natural Resources, told members of the House Natural Resources Committee.
Wednesday's hearing focused on the impact of last year's moratorium on deepwater drilling permits in the Gulf of Mexico.
Gulf Coast lawmakers and officials from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama say that, even though the temporary ban was lifted late last year, federal officials have been slow to issue permits. They say that's created a "de facto'' ban on drilling in deep and shallow waters." I think you may be wrong. the other problem is that many of the permits are for wells or sites that had been shut down and are waiting to be started again.

Ok liberals. If it is just fine by your low morality level to hurl sexist slurs, based solely on your political agenda, then no more whining when your precious leftist "sacred cows" get the same treatment. You can't have it both ways. Sorry. You can't wail and gnash your teeth about political hate speak from the right and then condone it from your own mouths. Guess right and wrong are just not important anymore eh? Like all that utter garbage about the TEA party being full of hate, and then just ignoring the many actual displays of hate in the recent union outpouring in Wisconsin. Why don't you just admit it? Oh, I almost forgot your main guiding principle. Never retreat, just reload. Truth be known, you liberals have a lot in common with the one person you hate the most, which would be laughable if it wasn't so very pathetic.

Michelle Bachman and Sarah

Michelle Bachman and Sarah Palin are both retarded. Now, since I lean left in this area- I'm sure my words will be stricken down and even attacked by Sarah Palin herself. However if I were toe the line like a good Republican, I can say retarded all I want, demonstrated by Rush saying the same word and being dismissed by Palin because it was 'Satire'. If logic is allowed- Maher's show is suppose to a funny and a way to ridicule current events. That's satire, which means it should be allowed.

I don't even know what the point or goal of this article is suppose to be about. Is it about the unfairness to Sarah Palin by the media? Using her own words to poke fun at her is too much?

For people who think Bill Maher gets a free pass with his words, you should look up how he lost his last show.

Over the years, I have heard the right wing talking heads call Hillary Clinton just about every nasty name in the book. Far worse than this.. I also witnessed the same launch an all out attack, and reckless character assassination on the honorable war hero Max Cleland for disagreeing with Bush's reckless policies.. Then you have your daily dose of hatred coming from Coulter, Savage, Beck, etc....

Maher is just a comedian, and a lousy one at that.. His hateful comments are a disgrace, but let's not pretend the left is the only side guilty of this so called"heaping hatred".
