She gave the card to the wrong person.

Uncle Sam is slowly but surely replacing Father (and Mother) ...

Good thing the government knows better how to care for our children. What would we do without them?

the father was such a wonderful father.... then why is this child being such a brat? Obviously, the parenting here is lacking.....

I hate to say it butIf

if you raise up your children in the way they should go, if you let your children know that no matter what you love them and will protect and support them, if you have an open line of communication so that *you* are the one they will come to in an emergency (or an aunt or gramma or good family friend) then you won't need to worry too much about this kind of thing. I was the proverbial good girl, but my mother told me early on that if I ever got pregnant or had a problem, she loved me and we would get through it together. Maybe that's why I didn't feel the need to go out and sleep around looking for love. I had love already. Talk to your kids. Let them know that you won't beat them half to death if they make a stupid decision. Let them know that they can come to you. No one can force them to take these pills or abort their baby. They are frightened and ashamed and just don't know what else to do. Just my own opinion.

Agreed and I wouldn’t argue with anything you said so well.

The point, however is not on how to be a good parent, but this is just the most recent example of how the government is infringing on our right to.

of course.........., children have no rights... they are the property of their parents and Uncle Sam needs to stop messing with these property rights!!

.
I am SO happy that you placed the caveat "too much" in your post because with the government today placing itself between parents and their children, competing at every level for their loyalty and dependence, there can never be the kind of security and confidence we once knew.

Parents, in the meantime, struggle to keep out of debt, to pay the bills and keep food on the table. All the while, the government keeps taking more and more and more.

No matter how well intentioned, increasing numbers of parents will fail to meet the standards they set for themselves. By default the government or peer pressure will intervene, influencing the child's future.

George Orwell's nightmare is becoming the standard by which more and more of our children are raised.

what your taxes would be like if federal taxes were still collected from corporations and other sources like they were in the 1950s?
http://www.cbpp.org/cms/?fa=view&id=3822
Maybe more should be collected from corporations and investments rather than increasing the burden on those paying payroll taxes.....
especially since wages have stagnated or decreased over the past three decades while profits from corporations and investments have soared.......

One more small step in the

One more small step in the destruction and devaluation of the family unit. The job os almost complete. The government knows, best we just need to learn to be good obedient subjects.

never underestimate the power of Father!!

I bet no one knows that most inmates in prison have no idea who their fathers are, as compared to most of them knowing who their moms are. This significant fact attests to the importance of fathers and the damage of absent fathers in the lives of young men and women. Daughters need fathers to teach them what to expect from men. Sons need fathers to teach them how to be real men. It is for a reason that both man and woman, mother and father, are necessary and needed to bring a new life into this world. Any other combination produces much dysfunction in the lives of children. It is a grave injustice to deprive a child of a father by creating their life in a science lab with someone's donated sperm. It is also a grave injustice to deprive a child of the example of a stable loving marriage when women just hook up do and not commit to a stable life long marriage. Hat's off to all those men who step up to the plate and take their responsibility as fathers seriously, who sacrifice themselves and work hard to support their family, who would do anything for their wife and children. Society owes you a dept of gratitude!!
