Very true. I can't believe it has taken this long to stop. Oh I forgot, it's government that runs the post office. A book of stamps last me a whole year, that's how much I use the mail. We can survive without Saturday delivery.
Typical "government" reaction, cut down on the service level rather than attack it from inside. This mess was created internally, it should be fixed internally. Don't get me wrong, I support the no Saturday delivery, but what about the crap that got them here?
Saturday deliver will save a projected 2.5b.......yet losses were over 16b. I'm no mathematician, but this still wont add up. What about these fat cat retirement pensions and health insurance? Private sector has to eat these losses and deal with it, so should you USPS.
... and you can say goodbye forever to the dinosaur that is the current postal system. It's only purpose today seems to be to support government union hiring anyway.
It's been decades since the USPS has come close to paying its own way.
I didn't work for USPS, but people seem to have the same ideas about all government workers. I spent 31 years working at Ft. Gordon. My ret is just over 20,000 and I contribute between 2,500 & 3,000 toward my insurance premiums. I AM NO FAT CAT!!!
..the same ideas about all government workers."
Pine - If I gave the impression that I was denigrating government workers, I'm sorry. Not what I meant at all. I'm a retired government worker myself, (military) and it sounds like you got shafted.
No, I was talking about the featherbedding that goes on in so much of the government sector and particularly in the last four years of Obama. He's gone way over the top in building federal union jobs to the detriment of the American economy.
