Who cares?

Yeah, seriously. One man in quoted out of context saying he does not care, yet the other one shows he does not care by his irresponsible actions in not safeguarding our American people abroad.

It was a statement of campaign strategy...

Not of political philosophy... He simply was accepting the fact that there are those that are immune to any persuasion other than the freebie government handout kind! That group, and 47% is, IMHO, a very LOW estimate, will never vote to reduce their own government entitlement payments... No amount of evidence or, nor blatant examples of the democrat policy failures will ever convince them that those that DO pay the taxes are those that DO provide jobs and paychecks, and roads and highways, free indigent care and free birth control, and other public services. Those that pay taxes DID "build that", and all the rest, too!

A government that robs Peter

A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always count on Paul's vote.

Let's let facts get in the way...

Take a look at this graph of actual numbers and stats about the 47%. Take special note of the map that shows which states have the highest percentage of no fed income tax payers. Most seem to vote Republican. So if this is about Romney just making a campaign strategy comment, well, he got that wrong too:

Wrong

That map in no way shows who voted for whom. Just because most of the non-taxpayers live in red states, it's a leap to conclude they vote Republican.

Rick is correct again. The

Rick is correct again. The same thing applies to states with the highest divorce rate, many of which are red. But, when individuals are queried, it turns out that they are overwhelmingly liberal. (Who knows - maybe they are upset about being in a red state?) The argument bdittle is using is often referred to as an ecological fallacy and sometimes referred to as a fallacy of division.

Wrong?

Yeah, my argument above is not proof, but I am not necessarily wrong. I am questioning who Mitt is writing off in that 47% (actually 46%): is it the 28% payroll taxpayers who do not earn enough to pay income tax? is it the 10% who are elderly? is it the 1% who include the military? Seems he was really trying to paint all those people as moochers. Talk about class warfare.

At least Mr. Romney included the troops in a speech.

America has never sustained a

America has never sustained a government-dependent level as high as 47%. The reason that this number has grown so much under the current president is that there are millions more in poverty, millions more unemployed, millions more on food stamps and welfare, and millions more filing bogus federal disability claims (because they have given up on ever finding a job) than under the previous president. Socialism turns the ant and grasshopper moral upside down: the socialist redistributes the hard-earned earnings and savings of the "ant" by giving it to the "grasshopper" out of "fairness" or equality of results, instead of equality of opportunity. Angie H makes this point succinctly above. Alternatively, Jesus said to help the poor, not make more of them. It's fascinating to see the same people who screamed about how terrible the Bush economy was try to make the case for re-electing Obama. That is why it's called the Liberal Cult.

Angie H....

I must say I'm a little shocked right now. I've read your comments many times and have agreed always. Seems you've always spoken good words of wisdom. Don't take this the wrong way but if your profile picture is of you, I'm a little taken back because you look so very young. I know there are good young people out here that realize the truth of whats going on but its just few and far in between. Too many young adults now days have been tainted by the liberal educational institutes brainwashing them. Its good to see we still have young adults with such amazing knowledge. Keep it up!!!!

All this class warfare is a

All this class warfare is a product of two things which are basically the same, jealousy and envy. The same can go for the Islamic middle east. The truth is that WE OVER HERE, don't care how they worship or which god they choose to serve. They can live their lives over there any way they choose. But thats not good enough for them. They have brought the fight to us. Why? Because they are jealous and envious of our lifestyles. They see that we are prosperous and live exceptional lives. Even people in this Country making minimum wage have better lives that most in their Countries. They don't believe Christians should live better lives than them. They believe Muslims should be the leaders of the world. It's jealously and envy at it's finest and its worst!!!!
