Sticking head in the sand

We can continue to stick our head into the sand by keeping to kick the can further out in time or austerity measures will need to be taken which will result in violence. When I ran a governmental agency and was told that I needed to take a several hundred thousand dollar cut, I began taking this cut early in the fiscal year - less traumatic on staff and patients than if the same cut had to be taken in the final month of the fiscal year. Although we are talking trillions than thousands, the principle is the same. The exception was that I could not increase taxes or print money - I have to live within a budget.
