What is this supposed to

What is this supposed to mean? That all Japan is is nuclear energy (and maybe now they are suffering at the hand of it?) Because that's what it looks like, and that's just tasteless.

Andrew, it's simply a commentary about the deteriorating nuclear situation in Japan. I applaud the fact that you have an opinion about something you admittedly do not understand.

Spent quite some time in Japan and I don't find it tasteless at all, Rick. To me, it invokes feelings of sadness and sympathy for the plight of the Japanese as their country appears to be falling apart. Keep up the good work.

I thought that the interior

I thought that the interior of the rising sun falling apart represented the damage due to the quake, and when the exterior (coastal) pieces were falling out, that was symbolic of the damage due to the tsunami. Both forces combined to create the electrical power outages which seriously exacerbated the nuclear problem. Fascinating cartoon - made me think.
