Animal rescue work definitely is a team effort. It most assuredly takes all of us doing what we can to care for and protect companion animals – dogs and cats, puppies and kittens.
STATISTICS SHOWING a reduced euthanasia rate at Augusta Animal Services are evidence that sterilizing animals helps reduce their intake of homeless animals. Volunteers with Dog Networking Agents are doing a fantastic job of adopting out as many dogs (and even cats) as they possibly can on Saturdays at PetSmart. But by spaying and neutering all dogs and cats, we will continue to drop the intake numbers more every year.
That’s What Friends Are For is a nonprofit organization created in 2009 to help people help animals, with the purpose of raising funds for animal rescue work, putting particular emphasis on the spaying and neutering of dogs and cats. With your help, we have provided vouchers for the spaying or neutering of more than 500 dogs and cats so far this year. It’s working!
Your donations are very much appreciated and actually are showing great results. People who can’t afford this expense, but really want to keep their pets, are truly grateful for our program. They are much less likely to surrender the family dogs or cats to animal control or abandon them, because they are healthier, happier and much better-behaved pets once they have been sterilized.
WE PROMOTE camaraderie and networking among animal rescue groups and individuals interested in improving animal welfare. We hope that the recent disease issue at animal control gets resolved soon and sparks more thorough disease-prevention measures.
Through the use of social media, TWFAF networks to reunite lost pets with their families, and by way of adoption, to bring more wags and purrs to lost people. Our fund-raising events bring together people from all walks of life to support this cause which is near and dear to our hearts. Together we have raised more than $320,000 since our inception. Now, that’s truly what friends are for!
YOU CAN LEARN more about our organization at www.ThatsWhatFriendsAreFor.org and can find us on Facebook. If you would like to help support our lifesaving efforts, we gratefully accept tax-deductible donations every day of the year. We are all volunteers – no salaries are paid, so all funds are spent on animal care.
When people are struggling, the pets in their care suffer. We can help. Checks may be made payable to That’s What Friends Are For Inc. (TWFAF), and mailed to P.O. Box 9490, Augusta, GA 30906-9490.
Thank you so much for caring!
