Regarding the recent letter from Q.A. Rice concerning a defeat of Eric Cantor by Dave Brat (“Compromise fades fast,” June 19):
Mr. Rice says he is a liberal and is concerned there will be more gridlock because of a real conservative taking the place of a Republican-in-name-only (RINO). I would like for Mr. Rice to consider this: Republicans have introduced dozens of bills, only to have them thrown out by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. He would not even let them come up for discussion. This doesn’t sound like compromise to me, either.
Mr. Rice says our country will suffer without compromise, and I agree. But on the other hand, the last time I looked, our country is suffering greatly right now – but look who’s in charge.
