I'm fed up with TV

I made a decision several days ago and followed through with action. I canceled my television provider service and will not get another service. I would like to share what I told the service provider.

First, my service began at $29.99 per month. Since the first year, the service has gone up $50 and that is much, too much for any television service.

Two, I object to the quality of the programming provided by any service, whether it is digital cable television or a satellite provider. I just don’t get why people watch reality shows such as Here Comes Honey Boo Boo or Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The only factor in these shows is that it allows the networks and people to make money. It is appalling that so many people find crude shows such as Two and a Half Men and Modern Family entertaining.

Three, the agenda is not entertainment but selling. I once counted 17 commercials in one advertising section. The truly good commercials are rare.

The last objection I have to television programs on most of the major channels is the language. It is amazing that producers think that most, if not all, of the people have such limited and vulgar language skills. Why is it necessary to use so many variations of the “F” word so often? The overuse of that word and other obscene language is gratuitous.

I would like to see the consumers put pressure on the networks and advertisers to provide better quality programming, have fewer commercials and clean up the language.

Why not sign petitions to send to the advertisers and networks?
