Campus clears the air

The American Lung Association in Georgia congratulates Georgia Military College’s Augusta campus for going tobacco-free effective Aug. 1. This is a great step forward for the college and for Augusta.

Tobacco-free campuses are a growing trend across the United States. Georgia Military College’s Augusta campus will join 16 colleges and universities in Georgia that are 100 percent tobacco-free.

As postsecondary institutions prepare students for their future, providing a tobacco-free environment will reduce present and future health-care costs; encourage overall well-being of their student body and staff; and help those using tobacco to quit for good.

Three cheers for the students of Georgia Military College in Augusta. They are leaders both now and in the future!
