Immigration cookie crumbles

So a kid knows that he isn’t supposed to get a cookie without asking, but he does it anyway. How should the parent or grandparent respond? Most of us are wise enough to know that to allow the child to keep the cookie would reinforce the wrong behavior.

In 1986, Ronald Reagan signed legislation that let illegal aliens “keep the cookie.” It was well-meaning, but it did not solve the problem. Instead, it just encouraged more illegal behavior.

Now our representatives in Washington, D.C., think it is a good idea to do the same thing again. They are still wrong. Stop reinforcing bad behavior. Swat them on the rumps and send them out of the kitchen.

And by the way, put the cookies on a higher shelf.
