Your editorial April 7 (“Building a future on our past”) does a good job discussing the potential for Augusta with the proposed conversion of Sibley and King mills.
However, when suggesting activities for visitors to Augusta, you fail to mention the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area, which includes the highly educational Interpretive Center and the idyllic and interesting canal tours on the Petersburg replica boats. You should have promoted these activities, too. Tourists from all over the world who have visited the museum and taken the canal tours have remarked what a hidden gem this site is.
As this is Masters Week, it would be a great time to promote the Augusta National Heritage Area as part of the city of Augusta. Hopefully you will take the opportunity to include an article in an upcoming publication regarding this.
