Regarding Jeff Miller’s recent letter “Example shows prayer fails” (Dec. 4):
It makes some very interesting reading when one who does not know God tries to understand God and His relationship with His people. I have known God for 18 years and I do not understand everything God does and does not do. I personally have had many of my prayers answered, and I am waiting for answers to others.
If anyone wants a better understanding of God, one should first get to know Him. The first step is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord. Then the word of the Lord will become clear. I refer the sincere seeker to I Corinthians 2:14: “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
As for Texas Gov. Rick Perry and his prayer partners, I reference II Chronicles 7:13 and 14: “When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people, who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
I humbly submit to Mr. Miller that God’s conditions have not been met.
