This is in response to Jeff Miller’s letter to the editor Dec. 2 concerning prayer (“Example shows prayer fails”).
First of all, Mr. Miller mentioned the $15 trillion debt in 2011, now at more than $16 trillion – and the man in the White House wants to raise it another trillion-and-a-half.
Mr. Miller asked in his letter, “Where’s your omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient God?” Let me be very clear – he used the New International Version of the Bible. May I quote from the authorized King James Bible, which has stood for more than 400 years?
Hosea 4:6 says we are destroyed “for lack of knowledge.” II Timothy 3:1-7 says “that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers (like the letter writer!), disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Mr. Miller mentioned the insanity of doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results. That’s President Obama! Spend, spend, spend.
I have conducted my ministry for more than 60 years by faith and prayer – no salary, no big contributions, just believing. It works, Jeff.
