Ironman event a success

This past weekend, I was privileged to be a part of the ESi Ironman Augusta 70.3 event.

I wish I could claim to be a participant in the race, but instead was part of a great team of volunteers. I had the opportunity to be a volunteer both Saturday and during Sunday’s race. What a wonderful event that brings so many visitors to the CSRA. The Augusta Sports Council and the ESi Ironman 70.3 teams are wonderful to work alongside and deserve to be recognized.

More than 3,000 athletes took part, and I did not hear one criticism of Augusta! In fact, most athletes offered compliments about Augusta and its hospitality. The athletes were generous with comments such as, “Thank you for being out here to help,” and very vocal about their love for this race because of the warm reception and well-run event.

It is my understanding that, because of this, the event is fast becoming one of the most popular on the circuit. Augusta and the CSRA should be proud about this one!
