Real leaders won't step up

To the residents of Augusta and Richmond County: I am truly sorry that your merged schools – Augusta State University and Georgia Health Sciences University – ended up with such a dud name – “Georgia Regents University.”

You have a mayor, a city administrator and enough commissioners to confound anything. Sadly, you have no leaders – zero, nada.

If the presumptive leader of your merged schools – current GHSU President Ricardo Azziz – was from Augusta, and had more character, the new school wouldn’t be Georgia Regents University.

But that’s what you get for not loving, in Azziz’s words, “cool.”
