Name geography irrelevant

Unless a university’s name includes its geographic location, it certainly cannot aspire to high academic standing. With that logic, Harvard, Yale, Duke and others remain under a handicap because no one can know where they are.

To affirm its status, perhaps our local combined university should join Albany State University, Bluefield State University and others with a community name. One might imagine that a university’s merit would ultimately depend on the success of its faculty and students, rather than on its name, but who can tell?
