Keep fighting name change

As reported in The Augusta Chronicle on Aug. 25 (“Governor, regents get complaints about name”), Gov. Nathan Deal’s office stated that “only” 512 people (voters) had reached out and communicated to him in a negative manner about the name of our new consolidated university here in Augusta. The current name for the university is Georgia Regents University, or GRU.

I implore each and every citizen dissatisfied with the current decision regarding the GRU name to please contact our governor and let him know that there are, without a doubt, more than 512 people who are dissatisfied.

Gov. Deal’s office may be contacted by the following methods:

• Telephone: (404) 656-1776, or (404) 657-7332

• Email via website, at gov.georgia.gov

• Mail via the Postal Service:
