I wish to offer my gratitude to Richmond County sheriff’s officers for locking up 37 scalpers outside the gates of Augusta National Golf Club. It’s important that patrons be able to experience the tournament without being hassled by people looking for a badge.
Too bad that attitude hasn’t transferred over to the downtown area! I enjoy frequenting restaurants and shops downtown, but I don’t want to be hassled at every intersection by panhandlers. I guess there’s no money in it since, unlike scalpers, panhandlers can’t pay a $500 fine. Easy money, right?
