Ceremony was extraordinary

In a time when most letters seem to dwell on the shortcomings of today’s society, I commend an example of what is right in our community and nation.

On Nov. 9, more than 500 people of all ages, races, faiths and political beliefs came together at North Augusta First Baptist Church to honor our veterans and those currently in service. The Lakeside High School Band and the choir of First Baptist Church of North Augusta presented a Veterans Day program that was received with no less than five standing ovations.

The talent of those involved in the band and choir was a fitting tribute to those who have served and continue to serve our country.

Kudos to the band and to choir director Jim Tau for this program that brought together a cross-section of our community for this event.
