No matter what the polls say, President Obama would beat Herman Cain hands-down in a presidential election.
Cain’s 9-9-9 plan is a plan to make the rich richer and the poor not only poorer, but into second-class citizens. His proposed 9 percent federal sales tax will be levied on all citizens and will be in addition to state, county and municipal taxes we already pay.
The federal tax won’t bother the rich who will be receiving enormous tax breaks. Those who pay no taxes or at the lower rates on the progressive tax charts will be the sacrificial lambs to Cain’s 9-9-9 plan.
The polls indicate strong support for Cain in South Carolina. What South Carolinians don’t know will hurt them.
A new quad-cab truck purchased in South Carolina at $27,500 will incur state sales tax of $300, making the cost of the truck $27,800. Add Cain’s 9 percent federal sales tax, another $2,475, and that new truck will cost $30,275.
When questioned about this, Cain replied, “Only new items will be taxed.” Therefore we can assume that Cain feels that one class of citizens can buy new items and a second class of citizens should avoid the 9 percent federal sales tax by buying used.
Anyone on a tight budget who votes for Cain should be prepared to buy used big-ticket items – cars, stoves, refrigerators, televisions, air conditioners and furnaces – from now on.
