I must respond to what Gregory J. Topliff said in his letter “Impeach president for nonfeasance”(Aug.13).
First of all, you can’t impeach President Obama for nonfeasance. This president is doing the best he can, and you can’t impeach any president of the United States for that reason. Any president of the United States may be impeached if convicted of treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors while in command.
Second, Obama and some other people (not lackeys) didn’t blame everything on this new Tea Party. This budget that the Tea Party wanted wasn’t a balanced budget. Most of the Tea Party – supported mostly by Republicans in Congress such as Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Michele Bachmann – wanted to cut between $400 billion and $500 billion in this budget, which includes mostly programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, etc., and a small part of the defense budget.
Obama didn’t ignore Standard & Poor’s downgrading of the credit rating from AAA to AA-plus. Obama didn’t agree with this agency and made a comment about S&P’s downgrade rating. A lot of Republican senators and some Democratic senators raised the debt ceiling by voting for it in Congress this year and in the past when other presidents were in command.
I don’t believe Mr. Topliff is an independent voter. I think that he is a new Tea Party Republican who’s not telling all the facts in the letter he wrote.
I’m not going to demand a vote of no confidence against President Obama because of some of the false comments that Mr. Topliff and some Tea Party supporters have made about this president in the past.
Some of these Tea Party members and supporters are prejudiced and
racist, and have made some negative
racial comments about Obama in the past. I’ve seen some of the signs made by Tea Party supporters in 2009 and 2010.
